Akiba’s Trip the Animation Season 2: Confirmed?

An anime adaptation of the video game could be a hit or a miss. However, four years have passed now, and the fans are still waiting for Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2. It shows that the first season is a hit for some of us out there, whether you are familiar with the title or not.

As we mentioned before, the comedy anime series is an adaptation of the same game title created by Acquire. The anime adaptation was announced at Tokyo Game Show in September 2016. Gonzo produced the anime with Hiroshi Ikehata (Sore ga Seiyuu!) as its director. Kazuho Hyoudou (ReLIFE) handled the series composition, while Hajime Mitsuda drew the character design.

The cast members were Haruki Ishiya (Seton Academy), Marika Touno (In Another World With My Smartphone), Rie Takahashi (Konosuba), and Yuki Nagaku (My First Girlfriend is a Gal). The first season aired from January 4 to March 29, 2017, listed with 13 episodes.

The game itself is a popular one, while the anime adaptation has been received fairly by new fans and the game's fans. So it is logical enough to make the sequel, but will we get Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2 in the future? Here is everything we know about the series.

Will there be Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2?

Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2

The chance for us to get Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2 is not that low. First of all, the anime adaptation was created to commemorate Gonzo's 25th anniversary. It was probably the sole reason why we had the first season, but we don't deny the possibility that the anime acted to boost the game's sales. It might also work to introduce the game to the newcomers too. Those reasons are enough for Acquire to make the sequel.

Second, while it is an anime adaptation from the game, the story itself is original. The settings, however, still come from the video game. Therefore, there are many options for the plot of Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2.

Gonzo could choose the original story path, continue what they left in the first season. Another option is, of course, to fully adapt the video game. Acquire has published five games in total. However, we think there are only three games that could be covered as anime.

Akiba's Trip, the first title, is the most potential to be our Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2. The reason is it's not long ago since the remake was released. While the original one was released in 2011, the remake launched just this year. So, an anime adaptation could also act to boost the sales of the remake.

Other titles that could be made into anime are Akiba's Trip: Undead & Undressed, the third title, which was released in 2013, and Akiba's Beat, which launched in 2016.

Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2 Release Date

Sadly, there is no official announcement about the release date of Akiba's Trip the Animation Season 2. Likewise, Gonzo and Acquire have not shared the update on whether the series gets a renewal or not. It has already passed the three-year mark, but it's still early to say that we won't get the sequel.

With or without Gonzo, Acquire needs to step up its game to satisfy the fans.

Plot of Akiba's Trip the Animation

The story follows Tamotsu Denkigai, an otaku. When he and his sister, Niwaka, shop in Akihabara, they are overrun by creatures called Bugged Ones. These creatures can possess anyone by biting their victims, just like a vampire.

Cornered by the creatures, Tamotsu is rescued by Matome Mayonaka, a girl who wields a baseball. Unfortunately, while fighting together, Tamotsu is wounded, and to save him, Matome has no other choice but to make him a Bugged One.

After the incident, they created a group named The Electric Mayonnaise to hunt the Bugged Ones in Akihabara.
