The Ten Commandments was formed when the Demon King put the Demon Realm under his control. He gives half of his powers to his servants, deciding to give it to ten powerful demon servants instead of just one individual as it risks his position as the king. In the ancient Holy War where the Ten Commandments fought against the four races (goddess, giant, fairies and humans), it was led by Meliodas that time until he betrayed them and killed two members in the process.

The Ten Commandments and the demon race are successfully sealed by the Coffin of Eternal Darkness until Fraudrin escapes the seal when the people of Danafor broke it. He then possessed Hendrickson in order to release the rest of the Ten Commandments and succeeded.

With a few original members having died and left during the Holy War, who are the current members of the Ten Commandments?

10. Derieri the Purity

Derieri from Seven Deadly Sins
Derieri the Purity

The first on the list is Derieri, a powerful demon of brute force and enhanced senses. Her commandment, Purity, refers to the sixth commandment of Ten Commandments in Christian Bible: “Thou shalt not commit adultery” which forbids impure thoughts. Her curse is that whoever commits impure deeds in front of her, will be inflicted with illness.

Combo Star is Derieri’s main ability. Her punches can get an additional 200,000 pounds of force compared to the last one as long as she continues to attack without any interruptions. If her attacks are interrupted then it resets and she has to start from the beginning. It is a terrifying power on its own but combined with her demonic durability, speed and power, it can kill anything with a barrage of punches in a matter of seconds.

9. Drole the Patience

Drole, or also known as Balor, is the founder of the Giant Clan. He is also their former king and a god to some according to the clan’s legends. As the giants revered in their strength, Balor once prided himself in his own strength but that pride was shattered when he was easily defeated by Zeldris during the first Holy War. Because of that, he defected from the Giant Clan and became a demon, replacing the previous demon of Patience and becoming a member of the Ten Commandments.

His curse, Patience, is that whoever shows intolerance of pain will be inflicted with greater pain. It seems to be based on the fourth Ten Commandment from the Christian Bible: “Honour thy father and thy mother.” Being the founder and most powerful of the Giant Clan, he possesses a tremendous amount of power as he’s able to shape and form the ground to his will. Not only that, he’s able to send a soul of a being to the past and has the ability of manipulating the power of darkness similar to the rest of the Ten Commandments.

8. Estarossa the Love

Taking the place of Meliodas, Estarossa becomes the demon of the Commandment Love after the seal is broken by Hendrickson. Like other demons, he is able to manipulate the ability of darkness. Estarossa’s main ability is Full Counter, similar to Meliodas’ except he is only able to return physical attacks with more than double the initial strength. Not only that, he has the ability to manipulate black flames that can nullify an immortal’s regeneration called Hellblaze.

His commandment is based on the Bible’s Ten Commandment,  “Love your neighbor as yourself.” His curse of Love is that whoever stands before him with hatred in their heart will be rendered powerless to harm or inflict damage to anyone else. It is later revealed that his identity is Mael, one of the Four Archangel of the Goddess Clan due to alteration of the demon Gowther and his ‘son’, everyone’s memories are reforged giving the archangel a new identity as Estarossa as a revenge for killing Gowther’s lover in the Holy War happened 3000 years ago.

Fraudrin is first introduced as the demon that has been possessing Knight Dreyfus for the past 10 years. He escaped the seal after the people of Danafor broke it and began to plot to release the rest of the Ten Commandments. In order to do so, he had to use the blood of the Goddess Clan but was unable to find any until he discovered Liz. But that was not enough and the death of Liz caused Meliodas to destroy the city of Danafor due to his wrath.

He later succeeded in resurrecting the Ten Commandments and acting as a replacement for the Commandment Selflessness. Despite being so, he wasn’t granted the ability of the curse as Meliodas stated that he is nothing but a substitute. His main ability, Full Size, allows him to grow a giant proportion that also increases his strength and endurance along with the range of his attacks.

He is known to be very sadistic and eager to go on a battle against new and powerful enemies even after his powers are mostly drained from being sealed away for 3000 years. His curse, Truth, determines that whoever tells a lie in Galand’s presence will be turned to stone. Only the ones who are aware they are lying will be affected.

He also possesses great power, able to travel to Camelot with 72 high jumps and able to stop Diane’s 998kg Gideon with a kick when she is attacking him. His ability, Critical Over, heightens his physical strength to the maximum limit. He can maintain this strength until his magic is all used plus he uses an axe-like weapon called Halberd.

Gloxinia is the first king of the Fairy King’s Forest but then turned into a demon after the betrayal of a human named Rou and Stigma, an alliance made of humans, fairies, giants and goddess clans during the Holy War 3000 years ago. He initially has an upbeat and carefree personality that hides a sadistic nature that revels in taunting others and killing. Due to the betrayal of the human Rou, he harbored a deep hatred towards humankind.

His curse, Repose, is that anyone who fights without rest in his presence will have their magic sealed away. Not only that, he also possesses Spirit Spear Basquias and an ability called Disaster. Like King, it allows him to control life and death throughout nature to draw out the power of Basquias.

Grayroad is a mutated gray demon and the youngest among the Ten Commandments. She is cruel to the point of turning humans into lower demons in order to turn them against each other. Her initial power is implanting demon plants to creatures that lack magic and trapped them in egg shaped pods. If left too long, it will detach and it will hatch into low class demons meant to serve her.

Her main ability, Curse, is the ability to inflict her targets with different kinds of alignments that will cause them to use violence. This ability works well with her curse, Pacifism, in which whoever kills someone in her presence will have their time stolen and rapidly age until they die.

She eventually gets recruited by the Demon King and possesses the Commandment Faith.

She’s able to form portals for various purposes and has shown to have the ability to manipulate the dying and the dead, along with their souls. She can also draw out her opponent’s soul by reciting a demonic incantation. Her curse, Faith, will set ablaze anyone’s eyes who shows faithlessness in her presence.

2. Monspeet the Reticence

Monspeet the Reticence

Unlike the rest of the Ten Commandments, Monspeet is not one for violence. He mostly acts as a gentleman in contrast to Derieri’s brash and rude personality. Sometimes even translating her words in a much more polite manner.

Though his powers are not meant to be underestimated as he’s considered as the greatest user of Hellblaze. His main ability, Trick Star, allows him to switch two objects with each other. His curse, Reticence, will have their voices blocked if they expressed hidden feelings or emotions.

1. Zeldris the Piety

He’s also shown to be able to use Hellblaze like Estarossa and Monspeet. His curse, Piety, will curse anyone to serve the Demon King if they turn their back on him as it will be treated as an act of treachery.
