Beastars Season 3 Release Date: Everything We Know

Beastars is an action/drama animated series based on the original manga by Paru Itagaki. After gaining popularity, the manga received an anime adaptation by Studio Orange. The adaptation was released locally in 2019 before Netflix streamed it internationally the following year. On July 15, 2021, Netflix began streaming the entire second season.

The series follows Legoshi, a teenage wolf in a world populated by anthropomorphic animals, a world divided between carnivores and herbivores. Tensions between students on both sides are often high, as carnivores have to resist their peers' natural drinking instincts. In the midst of these strained relationships, Legoshi finds himself in the middle of a murder mystery and romance following the death of one of the school's herbivorous students and his encounter with the rabbit girl, Haru.

Will there be a Beastars Season 3?

After the recent release of Season 2, fans are already wondering if they will be entitled to a sequel to the series. On a new website for the anime adaptation of “BEASTARS” it was announced that the series will receive a sequel in which a new arc will be adapted. Whether this is Beastars Season 3, a film or an OVA, however, is not clear from the announcement.

Beastars Season 3 Release Date

Both previous anime seasons of “BEASTARS” were created in the CGI studio Orange (Land of lustrous, Dimension W & Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle), which also produces the sequel. Shinichi Matsumi acted as director, while Nanami Higuchi (BNA: Brand New Animal) wrote the scripts. Nao Ootsu was involved in the project as a character designer and Satoru Kousaki as a composer.

The twelve-part first season was shown on Japanese television between October and December 2019. The twelve-part second season followed between January and March 2021. The sequel, which is no longer referred to as a TV anime, but as a Netflix anime.

The streaming service Netflix recently announced that the third and final season of the anime adaptation of “BEASTARS” will be released exclusively on demand in 2024. However, a concrete release date is still pending at the current time.

Beastars Season 3: Who are the characters?

Fans of the series will be thrilled to learn that if “Beastars” receives a third season, most (if not all) of the show's recurring characters will be back. Legoshi (Chikahiro Kobayashi/Jonah Scott), following his decision to drop out of school, must find a new purpose in life (via Myanimelist). Similarly, his closest companions will be there to join him. They are Louis (Yuuki Ono/Griffin Puatu), Haru (Sayaka Senbongi/Lara Jill Miller) and Jack (Junya Enoki/Benjamin Diskin).

Assuming that “Beastars” continues to faithfully adapt the manga, several new characters are expected to appear. The most important of these newcomers will probably be Yahya, the current Beastar. How Legoshi and Louis get along with this third influential figure will leave its mark on events to come. Unfortunately, no casting announcements have been made for Yahya or the other newcomers. Fans will have to wait for more news before they know who will play these new actors.

Beastars Season 3: What is the story?

After the dramatic final fight of season 2, most of the characters in “Beastars” remain alive. Our protagonist, Legoshi, is no worse off after his confrontation with Riz. However, his life has been decidedly different since he dropped out of school. His relationship with Louis is now stronger than ever. On the other hand, his relationship with Haru remained somewhat unresolved. Legoshi's penchant for getting into trouble, as well as his new criminal record, could be obstacles preventing them from deepening their romantic bond.

The events are a great starting point for a transition to Season 3, which should adapt the manga from where Season 2 left off at the beginning of Volume 12. The following chapters focus on Legoshi and Louis who continue to bridge the gap between carnivores and herbivores (via Barnes and Noble). Legoshi befriends two new herbivores, Merino and Yahya. Meanwhile, Legoshi and Louis must “face their father figures.” Thus, the stage is set for more drama and action if and when season 3 of “Beastars” is released.

Beastars Plot

In a civilized society of anthropomorphic animals, an uneasy tension exists between carnivores and herbivores. At Cherryton Academy, this mutual distrust peaks after a predation incident results in the death of Tem, an alpaca in the school's drama club. Tem's friend Legoshi, a grey wolf in the stage crew, has been an object of fear and suspicion for his whole life. In the immediate aftermath of the tragedy, he continues to lay low and hide his menacing traits, much to the disapproval of Louis, a red deer and the domineering star actor of the drama club.

When Louis sneaks into the auditorium to train Tem's replacement for an upcoming play, he assigns Legoshi to lookout duty. That very night, Legoshi has a fateful encounter with Haru, a white dwarf rabbit scorned by her peers. His growing feelings for Haru, complicated by his predatory instincts, force him to confront his own true nature, the circumstances surrounding the death of his friend, and the undercurrent of violence plaguing the world around him.
