Will there be a Code Geass Season 3?

Code Geass Season 3

Code Geass (Official website) was broadcast in Japan on MBS in 2006-2007. The sequel of the anime was aired in 2008. The show was praised for its solid storyline and impeccable animation. The anime was also later adapted into manga and other graphic novels that showed alternate realities to the one the original series was based on. Bandai Reality licensed its English version in 2007 and aired on Adult Swim.

While, the Code Geass season 3 has not been announced yet, but Code Geass is getting a new movie which is titled Code Geass: Z of the Recapture.

Code Geass Season 3: What will be the plot

The story takes place in an alternate universe where the world is divided into three superpowers: The Holy British Empire (America), the Chinese Federation (Asia) and the European Union (Europe and Africa).

Code Geass’s third part would be a sequel of its 2019 film- Code Geass: Lelouch of the Resurrection. Though the plot details remain unknown currently. The series and movies both followed the theme of alternate universes. So, this is quite predictable that the upcoming season of the anime would be based on alternate timelines as well. Now, we are a bit unsure about the part of Lelouch in the television series, however, there is a possibility that the show would explore the characters’ background stories, how they became the people we know them, and more.

Geass Meaning

Code Geass Season 3 Release Date

As the world is plunged into a bloody war, Lelouch must sacrifice himself for peace. However, in the 2019 film, the plot is based on a different reality where Lelouch is still alive. Fans therefore anticipated a season 3 set in an alternate reality. However, the filmmakers have denied any plans for the third episode of the Code Geass series, although they have not officially cancelled the series either. So there is still a glimmer of hope for a third season.

Code Geass is produced by studio Sunrise (Tiger and Bunny & Accel World). Which is also known for producing Cowboy Bebop, Gintama, Daily Lives of High School Boys, InuYasha, Accel World and the Gundam Series.

Now studio Sunrise has announced Scarlet Nexus, Gundam Breaker: Battlogue, Yashahime: Princess Half-Demon: The Second Act. So the season 3 of Code Geass will not be announced anytime soon.

Code Geass: Lelouch of the Rebellion, often referred to simply as Code Geass, is a Japanese anime television series produced by Sunrise. It was directed by Goro Taniguchi and written by Ichiro Okouchi, with original character designs by Clamp.

In the year 2010, the Holy Empire of Britannia is establishing itself as a dominant military nation, starting with the conquest of Japan. Renamed to Area 11 after its swift defeat, Japan has seen significant resistance against these tyrants in an attempt to regain independence.

Lelouch Lamperouge, a Britannian student, unfortunately finds himself caught in a crossfire between the Britannian and the Area 11 rebel armed forces. He is able to escape, however, thanks to the timely appearance of a mysterious girl named C.C., who bestows upon him Geass, the “Power of Kings.” Realizing the vast potential of his newfound “power of absolute obedience,” Lelouch embarks upon a perilous journey as the masked vigilante known as Zero, leading a merciless onslaught against Britannia in order to get revenge once and for all.
