Did Paramount Plus drop Yellowstone?

Paramount Plus did not drop Yellowstone because the show was never meant to be on the platform in the first place.

Paramount Network took a gamble and sold the streaming rights of Yellowstone to Peacock before they knew how popular the show would become.

For this reason, Yellowstone cannot be streamed on Paramount Plus, but the fifth season can be found on the Paramount Network application.

Did Paramount Plus drop Yellowstone?

Though streaming services often create and produce their own original content, this process can be expensive and take a relatively long time.

This is why streaming services often bid to acquire the rights to popular shows and movies that have already been produced and that can help them draw in new audiences.

Unfortunately, it is exactly these so-called streaming rights which have caused fans of the smash-hit series Yellowstone so much confusion.

Although Yellowstone airs exclusively on Paramount Network and fans can watch new episodes on the Paramount Network application when they air, the series is not available on Paramount’s streaming service, Paramount Plus.

Yellowstone is not available on Paramount Plus because Paramount network sold the show’s streaming rights to Peacock, likely before the network realized how big the series would eventually become.

This is why you can only stream the previous seasons of Yellowstone on Peacock, not Paramount Plus. Thus, the show was not dropped as much as it was never picked up.

The Paramount Network application

The most recent, fifth season of Yellowstone is available to stream on the Paramount Network application or the Paramount Network website.

You will need to authenticate your account on both of these platforms in order to start watching their content, which means that you will have to input your cable subscription credentials to activate your account.

However, the first episode of the season is completely free to watch for anyone in the United States.

How much is a Peacock subscription?

If you want to catch up on all of the previous Yellowstone episodes that are not on Paramount Plus, you will need to sign up for NBC’s streaming service, Peacock.

Peacock offers prospective subscribers two subscription plans, consisting of the Peacock Premium (with ads) plan which is $4.99 per month, and the Peacock Premium Plus (no ads) plan which is $9.99 per month.

Other ways to stream Yellowstone

Yellowstone has not officially been renewed for a sixth season, but it seems unlikely that Paramount Network will decide to end its most popular series out of the blue.

So, if and when a sixth season of Yellowstone does start airing, you will be able to watch the show live on Paramount with a Philo or fuboTV subscription.
