Will there ever be No Game No Life Season 2? Will we ever get to see it on our screens again?
No Game No Life, without a doubt, is one of the most popular and successful isekai anime series of all time. It is a fantasy-heavy show that also pursues comedy and ecchi genres. The story takes place in a world called Disboard, overseen by the One True God named Tet. Out of sixteen races that have wandered around, humans sit at the lowest of the bunch. There, a group of human gamers seeks to beat Tet on a series of board games in order to usurp the god's throne.
No Game No Life began life as a Japanese light novel series written and illustrated by Yuu Kamiya. Media Factory has published it under the MF Bunko J imprint since April 25, 2012. As of November 2021, eleven volumes have been released to the public. Not only in Japanese but the light novel series No Game No Life has also been published in English by Yen Press under the Yen On imprint since April 21, 2015, in Brazilian Portuguese by New Pop since January 2015, in Polish by Waneko since July 25, 2016, and in Russian as Без игры жизни нет by XL Media since 2017.
The light novel series No Game No Life began to receive recognition after its appearance in Kono Light Novel ga Sugoi! in 2014 and had its volumes placed as one of the top thirty selling novels in Japan. As of May 2017, it has been reported that over 3 million printed copies are in circulation.
Kamiya's successful light novel series was later adapted into a manga, illustrated by none other but his own wife, Mashiro Hiiragi. It has been serialized in Monthly Comic Alive since January 26, 2013. As of February 23, 2018, two volumes have been released. Aside from the main manga series, Yuizaki Kazuya made a spin-off entitled No Game No Life, Please. It has also been serialized in the same magazine as the main series since May 27, 2015. The final chapter, which is the twentieth, was published on November 27, 2017.
No Game No Life Fans Speculate About Second Season
Due to numerous sequel announcements to various anime, the “No Game No Life” subreddit once again saw heated discussions as the series is still waiting for a sequel.
No Game No Life Season 2: For fans incomprehensible
The “No Game No Life” franchise is extremely popular and financially rewarding. The various media are constantly sold and new merchandise is also continuously released. For the fans, it is therefore all the more incomprehensible that there is still no second season. One can only speculate about the reasons, but the most likely one is probably the release schedule of the light novel.
When the anime premiered, six novel volumes already existed. And while the anime adapted the first three volumes, the final scene of the anime is from a later volume. This controversial decision by the producers to confuse the chronology suggested that they were intentionally “blocking” another adaptation.
No Game No Life Season 2 Renewal Status
Not long after the publication of the manga adaptation, an anime adaptation of No Game No Life by Madhouse (Death Note, One Punch Man, Hunter x Hunter) was announced. It later premiered on April 9, 2014, and ran for twelve episodes before concluding on June 25, 2014. Three years after the completion of the television series, Madhouse released a prequel movie entitled No Game No Life: Zero. Now, fans are craving to see a sequel to the main series. So, what is the renewal status of No Game No Life Season 2?
As of now, neither the studio nor the author has said anything regarding No Game No Life Season 2. We currently don't have anything to confirm whether there will be a season renewal or not. Luckily enough, the show hasn't been canceled, so there might still be a chance of return.
Will No Game No Life Season 2 be possible?
At this point in time, the chance of receiving No Game No Life Season 2 would be fifty-fifty. When it comes to the source material, the studio would have more than enough of them to make a season renewal. The first season has only adapted the first three volumes of the light novel, meanwhile, the prequel movie adapted the sixth volume. Let's also not forget that the novel series is currently still ongoing, so there will be more chapters to come.
Not to mention, No Game No Life is by far one of the most popular isekai shows out there. It has successfully placed fifteenth in terms of popularity in MyAnimeList, and it has also received a great score of 8.11 on the same website. With the huge amount of enthusiasm and demands, there should be a chance that No Game No Life Season 2 will be released. Also, the fact that there are a lot of shows out there with lower vogue and scores that received a sequel although everyone was skeptical about it, proves that No Game No Life Season 2 should theoretically be possible.
The only thing that can demolish all of the hopes that fans have with No Game No Life Season 2 is none other than the studio itself. On the record, Madhouse has only made a single season for all their anime titles, with Overlord being the only exception. With that being said, at this point, we can only hope that No Game No Life would be getting special treatment just like what Madhouse did to Overlord.

No Game No Life Summary
Genius gamer siblings (plus being NEET & hikikomori) Sora and Shiro are known as the undefeatable “__” (blank). Their talents and skills are so good they are considered as urban legend. One day, a young boy named Teto appears before them, claiming to be the “God” of another dimension where Sora and Shiro are summoned to, in which no violence is allowed and everything is decided by a game. Of the 16 different races residing in this world, “Humanity” is the weakest. After having the vast majority of their lands captured by the other races and being driven to the brink of extinction, Sora and Shiro challenge these one-of-a-kind battles of the intellectual powers in order to save Humanity.
No Game No Life features a pair of gamer protagonists known collectively as “Blank” (a combination of their two names, written in their native language Sora and Shiro: 空白) who are transported to another world by the god of games. (Tet) On this world where violence is forbidden, populated by magical creatures, all matters are settled through games and humanity is on the brink of extinction. Using their combined intellect, questionable morals and considerable guile, it is up to these siblings to swindle their way to the top in a series of increasingly intriguing and deceptively deadly games.
