Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2: Getting Canceled?

The probability might be low, but the fans are still waiting for Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2 to be seen in the light. It's not surprising because the first season ended five years ago, which is a long time.

Known as Undefeated Bahamut Chronicle outside Japan, it is an anime adaptation of the light novel of the same name. Senri Akatsuki wrote the series, with Ayumu Kasuga and Yuichi Murakami as its illustrators. It began serialization on August 12, 1013, and was published by GA Bunko. Total there are 20 volumes released by Senri Akatsuki.

An anime adaptation then came in 2016. Lerche produced the anime, with Masaomi Andou (School-Live!) as the director. The first season of Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut aired from January 11 to March 28, 2016, listed with 12 episodes.

With the cliffhanger ending, fans thought that it would have a second season. But now years have gone by, and there is still no news about Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2. So is it canceled or just delayed? Here is everything we know about the series.

Will there be Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2?

Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2

As we said initially, the probability of Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2 is pretty low. The first reason is the source material. Senri Akatsuki released the last volume of the series in the previous year. The manga adaptation, serialized in Gangan Online, ended early in 2018. Making a sequel of a finished series may be too challenging for Lerche, and it is unusual, too.

If a miracle happens, then it won't be tough to do. While it may end, there is a lot of content to be covered in the second season. From the information that we gathered, Lerche adapted around five volumes for the first season. So, there will be 15 volumes full of content.

Again, keep in mind that the first season was released five years ago. The ideal is around three years for the sequel to be announced, while five years is a bit too stretched.

Looking at Lerche's portfolio is not bright too. They rarely made the second season for anime series. The only exception is probably just Assassination Classroom, which got two seasons and spin-off anime. Danganronpa also had a sequel, but it might be because of Spike Chunsoft, the company behind the series. The rest ran out of luck, and Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2 could be one of them.

Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2 Release Date

There is no official release date for Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut Season 2. It is good news because there is no information about the series being canceled. It can also be a piece of bad news, though, depending on what you want to believe. But so far, there is no certainty about the renewal for the second season.

Studio animation usually takes the sales of anime as their benchmark to make a sequel. The light novel might be a popular series, and the anime gains much attention, but if the sales are bad, it is likely a no-go.

After many years, some series got the sequel, but will it be the same fate for Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut? We should wait until next year and hope for the best.

Plot of Saijaku Muhai no Bahamut

The story follows Lux, a former prince of Arcadia. Five years ago, the rebellion overthrew the empire, hence Lux's title. One day, he accidentally trespasses a female dormitory and ends up in a bathing area where he sees the naked body of the kingdom's new princess, Lisesharte.

Angry because of the incidents, Lisesharte then challenges Lux to a duel using Drag-Ride, an ancient armored mechanical weapon, despite knowing that he is undefeated. After the fight, Lux becomes a student at the female-only academy that trains the future Drag-Knights.
