Which countries can you watch Ugly Betty on Netflix

Ugly Betty’s ending explained

Fans can watch Ugly Betty on Netflix in the United States, but the show is available on Disney+ in other countries.

Ugly Betty is a popular ABC dramady that explores the personal and professional life of the quirky Betty Suarez.

Ugly Betty has now officially been added back onto the Netflix streaming platform for viewers in the United States, but international viewers will have to look for the series elsewhere.

What Ugly Betty is all about

Ugly Betty follows the inexperienced and naïve Betty Suarez after she is hired to be the personal assistant of Daniel Meade, the editor-in-chief of the popular ‘Mode’ fashion magazine.

Betty’s unique sense of style is not the only thing that makes her stand out like a sore thumb in the world of high fashion, and she has to learn a few difficult lessons about friendship and loyalty along the way.

The talented America Ferrera stars in the lead role as Betty, and she is joined by other big names, such Vanessa Williams (as Wilhelmina), Michael Urie (as Marc), Becki Newton (as Amanda), Tony Plana (as Ignacio), Ana Ortiz (as Hilda) and Eric Mabius (as Daniel) to round out the show’s main cast.

Which countries can you watch Ugly Betty on Netflix

Ugly Betty first started airing on ABC in 2006. The show quickly gained a cult-following due to its unique balance of comedic satirical moments, and its heartfelt portrayal of other, more serious issues, including LGBTQIA+ issues, class disparity, unattainable beauty standards and more.

However, by the time the show aired its fourth season in 2010, Ugly Betty had been banned to the dreaded Friday-evening timeslot on the channel.

After this, the show’s declining ratings and viewership eventually led to its cancellation at the end of this season.

Like all the popular television shows from the early ‘00s, Ugly Betty eventually found a new home on the streaming service, Netflix, after its abrupt cancellation, where it stayed until January 5th, 2015.

Hereafter, the series pretty much disappeared into the digital void of forgotten hits, leaving Ugly Betty fans with limited options when it came to re-watching their favorite show.

Fortunately, this has now changed, and all four seasons of Ugly Betty have, once again, been added to the Netflix catalogue in the United States, as of August 1, 2023.

Most international fans  in the United Kingdom, Australia, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and France, will still have to head to other streaming services like Disney+ to get their Ugly Betty fix.

The Netflix subscription tiers

Netflix is still one of the most popular subscription-based streaming services in the world. Subscribing to Netflix will give you access to thousands of television shows and movies on top of the newly re-added Ugly Betty in the United States.
