Assassins Pride Season 2: Everything we know

In October, we have been witnessing the premiere of the anime adaptation of a popular Japanese light novel series titled Assassins Pride. Those fans who have seen at least one episode are no doubt wondering whether there will be a Season 2 of the fantasy anime? No words have been said on the subject of renewal as of yet. Nonetheless, it's clear to us that Assassins Pride Season 2 is due to happen, and below we are going to explain why we believe so.

The first thing which is evident is that the 1st season of the anime adaptation consists of only twelve episodes. But those of you who read the original light novel series are aware of that it contains eleven volumes. The latest, 11th volume was issued on October 19, 2019, right after the series premiere, and thereby couldn't be included in the current television adaptation, by no way! But honestly, we doubt that the current 12-episode season covers even five volumes.

Are we right or wrong, we will see. However, even if we are wrong, we have at least one additional volume for a sophomore television adaptation. Looks like that Assassins Pride Season 1 will be split into two cours of 12 episodes each. By the way, even if Assassins Pride Season 1 contained 24 episodes, we doubt that it might cover the entire amount of source material.

Next, let's take a look how viewers evaluated the anime. According to MyAnimeList, Assassins Pride Season 1 holds a score of 6.89 based on over 8,800 votes. We can't thereby regard Assassins Pride as a top rated anime, but still the rating is above average.

Finally, the BD/DVD sales might shed the light on the future of the media franchise. And the good news that the 1st print is on the way. The BD issue was available from December 20, 2019, according to the official website of the anime, by the price of ¥ 15400 (Tax included).

Summing up, even despite that we are looking forward to the BD/DVD sales data in order to expand our forecast, it's clear to us that Assassins Pride Season 2 is just a matter of time. The only thing which plays not in favor of renewal is EMT Squared, the studio that has no anime with a second season to date. But we hope that Assassins Pride would become an exception to the rule. We are tracking down all the official reports which arrive from the EMT Squared studio on the subject of Assassins Pride Season 2. Once the studio announces any certain data, we will update this page.

Assassins Pride Season 2 Release Date

Assassins Pride Season 2 Release Date

As we have mentioned above, Assassins Pride Season 2 is yet to be announced. But we nonetheless don't rule of the positive resolution from the EMT Squared studio, and even sure in the decision on renewal. But when should we expect the Assassins Pride Season 2 premiere in such a case? Well, it's not an easy question, honestly. But still, if the 1st installment of the anime covers only half of the source material, and we're sure of this, we might expect Assassins Pride Season 2 already next fall, in October 2020. Otherwise, the production could last for a year or even more, and we thereby won't see Assassins Pride Season 2 earlier than in 2023-24. However, we don't think that the waiting will last so long.

But guys, please bear in mind that we are looking forward to the official announcement, and thereby all the data presented above are nothing but out forecast. As soon as the EMT Squared studio announce their decision on renewal or cancelation of the anime series or sets a specific release date for Assassins Pride Season 2, we will update this section. So guys, stay tuned for updates. We will keep you informed.

Assassins Pride Storyline

The story is set in the post-apocalyptic world where the rest of humankind is dwellings in the city of Flandore, the only remained place suitable for life. The city is split into blocks surrounded by glass domes. The transfer between the blocks is possible thanks to a variety of glass tunnels. Meanwhile, the world outside the domes is completely hostile, and is inhabited by the monsters.

However, not everyone is capable of fighting them, unless noblemen, who posses the superpower called mana. However, even if you was born in a wealthy family, it doesn't mean that you have such magical skills. The story thereby centers on Melida. Her father hired a mentor named Kufa, whose mission is to test whether Melida possesses mana. But the intrigue is that if Melida doesn't possess mana, she will be executed. That's why Kufa must keep this a secret.

Assassins Pride premiered on October 10, 2019, on AT-X, and was later broadcast on Tokyo MX, SUN, and BS NTV. The fantasy anime is based on a Japanese light novel series of the same name written by Kei Amagi. The EMT Squared studio (Love Tyrant & I'm Quitting Heroing) served as a developer of the television adaptation. Sentai Filmworks acted as a licensor of the anime in North America. Assassins Pride Season 1 consists of 12 episodes. As of today, there has been no official announcement of a 2nd season.

Assassins Pride Action

Assassins Pride is a Japanese fantasy light novel series written by Kei Amagi and illustrated by Nino Ninomoto. Fujimi Shobo have published the series since January 20, 2016 under their Fujimi Fantasia Bunko imprint. A manga adaptation with art by Yoshie Katō has been serialized in Shueisha's seinen manga magazine Ultra Jump since May 2017. An anime television series adaptation by EMT Squared aired from October to December 2019.

On the brink of extinction, mankind has downsized and now solely resides in the city-state of Flandore, living in cities encased by glass domes. Beyond the domes exist vicious lycanthropes who thrive in the darkness; among the citizens inside, a clear distinction between the nobility and commoners is in place. The blood of nobles enables them to utilize mana, granting them abilities that exceed human limits and greatly assist them in defeating lycanthropes.

Already 13 years of age, noble Melida Angel has yet to manifest her mana, and attends an elite academy where she is mistreated for her lack thereof. In order to help her, Kufa Vampir is ordered by the Angel family to become Melida's tutor. While Kufa seems to be a mere mentor, an ulterior motive lurks behind his job—he is to assassinate her if he confirms that she does not possess mana.

Kufa's investigation eventually leads him to determine he must eliminate Melida. However, Kufa is struck by her unwavering determination, spirit, and belief in herself when he witnesses her in a fight, choosing instead to offer a way she can manifest her magic. As Melida learns to use mana with the help of Kufa's teachings, Kufa forsakes his mission and jeopardizes everything to keep his discovery of Melida unknown to the Angel family and his own guild. However, both Kufa and Melida will soon realize that hiding their secret will not be the only challenge they face, as unforeseen trouble is waiting just around the corner.
