Sam Lutfi, the former Britney Spears associate who became a prominent figure during one of the most intensely scrutinized periods of her life, has resurfaced in a rare public sighting.
The Daily Mail published new photographs of Lutfi during a Friday night outing in West Hollywood, framing the appearance around his noticeably different look after years outside the celebrity spotlight.
The outlet described Lutfi as Spears’ former manager, although that title has long been disputed. Lutfi testified in 2012 that Spears hired him to manage her during 2007 and 2008, while attorneys representing the singer argued that he never officially held the position.

Lutfi became closely associated with Spears in 2007, when she was facing a custody battle, heavy paparazzi attention and major upheaval within her professional team.
During a later civil trial, he claimed that Spears repeatedly asked him to become her manager and that they reached an informal agreement. Reuters reported that Spears’ attorneys rejected that account and maintained that Lutfi was never her manager.
His lawsuit included claims against members of the Spears family arising from statements about his conduct during that period.
The Legal History Continued Years Later
Lutfi’s legal history with the family continued in 2019, when Spears’ legal team requested a restraining order covering the singer, her parents, her sister and her two sons.
Court documents cited by People alleged that Lutfi had sent harassing and threatening communications and disclosed private information.
Lutfi disputed the claims. His opposition filing said he had not contacted Spears since 2009, and his attorney argued that restrictions imposed by the court violated his free-speech rights.
E! News reported that a judge ultimately issued a five-year order requiring Lutfi to remain at least 200 yards away from Spears and the other protected family members.
Lutfi Has Not Completely Disappeared From Public View
Lutfi has continued discussing his account of the Spears years through social media, documentaries and interviews.
He appeared in the 2021 Netflix documentary Britney vs Spears, which revisited the singer’s conservatorship and included interviews with several people connected to her life and legal history.
He also appeared in a March 2026 interview with Popcorned Planet that revisited his relationship with Spears and the events surrounding her conservatorship.
