Britney Spears’ younger son, Jayden James, has made another move into the fashion world, stepping out at a MAC Cosmetics party less than two months after his surprise runway debut in Paris.
The 19-year-old attended MAC’s House of Glass event in Los Angeles on Aug. 12 wearing a slouchy black leather jacket over a black top, loose gray jeans and black loafers. Photographers captured him posing solo inside the party.
The event celebrated the company’s Lustreglass Sheer-Shine Lipsticks and StainGlass Lip Tints. Gabbriette, rapper JT, Ashtin Earle, Landon Barker, Charlotte Lawrence and Vinnie Hacker were among the other guests, while Just Jared reported that Quinn Blake and Between Friends performed during the evening.
Jayden largely avoided public events while growing up, but the MAC appearance was his third fashion-related outing since May. He first attended Dior’s Cruise 2027 show in Los Angeles before joining his older brother, Sean Preston, on the Vetements runway during Paris Men’s Fashion Week.
Jayden Was Originally Invited to Watch the Vetements Show
Jayden and Sean’s runway debut was not the original plan. Vetements creative director Guram Gvasalia contacted the brothers after seeing photographs of them online, Sean told Vogue. They were initially expected to attend the Spring 2027 menswear show as guests before Gvasalia decided to cast them as models.
“Initially, we were supposed to just be invited to watch the show, but then he came up with the decision to let us walk,” Sean recalled. Jayden said the opportunity did not fully feel real until the brothers arrived in Paris.
“We knew about it way before it was going to happen, but I didn’t start really preparing myself until we got into Paris,” he said. “Then you’re like, ‘Oh, it’s getting real now. It’s not a joke anymore.'”
Because neither brother had runway experience, they practiced together, critiquing each other’s walks and facial expressions. Gvasalia also had someone work with them ahead of the show. “We didn’t really know how to do it,” Jayden admitted.
The soundtrack became another guide. Jayden said the techno-heavy music helped him understand the mood and movement expected from the models, while Sean said they were instructed to bring an aggressive intensity to their walks.
One Detail in Jayden’s Outfit Gave Him Extra Confidence
Jayden made his runway debut on June 26 in a fitted white tank top, faded jeans, a leather belt, dark shoes and layered silver chains. His favorite detail was one of those accessories. “I think my favorite part was probably my little chain thing, it had the Eiffel Tower on it,” Jayden told Vogue. “It helped give me more confidence for my walk.”
The final outfit was not necessarily what he would have worn under the original styling plan. Sean said Gvasalia adjusted both brothers’ looks after considering their builds and energy. Jayden said having Sean beside him helped manage the nerves immediately before the show started.
As the music grew louder backstage, the brothers could not get close enough to talk, so they simply looked at each other and nodded. “I would’ve been really, really messed up if Preston wasn’t doing it with me,” Jayden said.
Weeks later, PEOPLE documented his MAC appearance, where Jayden replaced the runway’s white tank and blue denim with a black top, leather jacket and gray jeans while retaining the loose silhouette.
Britney Sent Flowers and Kept Checking In Before the Runway
Britney was extremely nervous about the opportunity and wanted to make sure modeling was something they had chosen for themselves. “Oh my God, she was so nervous for us,” he told Vogue. “She was just looking out for us and making sure that this was what we wanted to do.”
Britney sent flowers to the brothers’ hotel as a good-luck gesture and repeatedly called and texted them before they stepped onto the runway. “It was good to have that and to carry that with us before we went out there,” Jayden said.
When Vogue asked whether their mother, who has decades of experience performing in front of cameras and live audiences, had given them technical advice for the runway, Jayden said she appeared confident they could handle it. “I feel like she knew we had it,” he recalled. “She was like, ‘Yeah, you guys are my sons. You’ve got this.'”
Jayden Says He Wants Another Chance on the Runway
“I don’t know about Preston, but I’m definitely interested,” Jayden told Vogue when asked whether he would model again. “I feel like I could do better, since this was my first fashion show and everything.”
He said nerves affected his performance and made his walk more rigid than he wanted. “I could master my walk better, I was definitely stiff because I was nervous,” he said.
Modeling is also not Jayden’s only creative interest. He and Sean told Vogue they are working on music together, something Sean described as a longtime part of both brothers’ lives. “Music is the foundation of everything for me,” Sean said. “Jayden and I have done music our whole lives, and we definitely gravitate towards that more than anything else.”
