Brooklyn Beckham’s latest shirtless photo has revealed that the “Mama’s Boy” tattoo once dedicated to Victoria Beckham is now increasingly difficult to make out beneath a growing floral design on the left side of his chest.
The 27-year-old shared the image on Instagram after a run, with his extensive chest and arm tattoos on display. HELLO! reported that only faint traces of the original lettering can now be seen among the surrounding ink.
The change was not completed overnight. Flowers had already begun obscuring the tribute by the time Brooklyn posed shirtless for a 2025 magazine shoot, and the design has become more extensive since then.
The newest image comes during his public estrangement from parents David and Victoria Beckham, but Brooklyn has not said that the family dispute motivated the changes to his mother’s tattoo. In fact, a source close to him previously denied that he was deliberately trying to erase the tribute.
The Floral Design First Appeared in a 2025 Photo Shoot
Brooklyn had “Mama’s Boy” tattooed across the left side of his chest in 2018. The first major signs that the design was being obscured appeared publicly the following decade. In photos published with his and wife Nicola Peltz Beckham’s June 2025 GLAMOUR Germany cover interview, Brooklyn posed shirtless with flowers surrounding and overlapping much of the lettering.
The words could still be seen beneath the newer artwork. The floral design was widely compared with Nicola’s bridal bouquet from the couple’s April 2022 wedding.
When the alteration first generated headlines in June 2025, Page Six quoted a source close to Brooklyn disputing claims that he had intentionally covered the tribute. “Anyone can look at the photo and see ‘mama’s boy’ is still right there,” the source said. “It was never covered up.”
His ‘Dad’ Anchor Was Altered Earlier This Year
Brooklyn has also altered a tattoo associated with his father. His upper right arm previously featured an elaborate anchor with “Dad” written across its banner and the handwritten message “Love you Bust” underneath.
Photos published in February showed that the three letters in “Dad” had been replaced or obscured by small shapes. The handwriting beneath the anchor remained visible, although it appeared considerably lighter. The Sun quoted an unnamed source who claimed Brooklyn had undergone laser treatment on the writing because “he wanted it gone.”
That change followed his decision to address the family conflict publicly. In a lengthy Instagram Stories statement in January 2026, Brooklyn said he did not want to reconcile with his family and accused his parents of trying to control the narrative surrounding him and Nicola. He also rejected suggestions that Nicola was responsible for separating him from his family.
Brooklyn’s First Tattoo Directly Copied One of David’s Designs
David played a direct role in the beginning of Brooklyn’s extensive tattoo collection. Brooklyn received his first tattoo in April 2017, shortly after turning 18. He and David visited Hollywood’s Shamrock Social Club, where celebrity tattoo artist Mark Mahoney copied one of David’s existing designs onto Brooklyn’s right forearm.
Teen Vogue reported that the design was a Native American illustration based on one David already had on his torso. David attended the appointment and shared images from the session himself. “Just like dads,” Brooklyn captioned one of his posts documenting the tattoo. He also wrote that he was honored to have his first piece done by Mahoney, whom he described as his father’s friend.
David later explained that Brooklyn had promised to include him when the time came for his first tattoo. Brooklyn had considered getting one during a trip to Paris before turning 18, but waited after David reminded him of their agreement.
