Christian Bale can picture his daughter Luka directing him one day, and he expects he would be especially well behaved on her set. “I’d probably behave better for her than everybody else ever,” he joked. “I’m terrified.”
The actor, 52, discussed his 21-year-old daughter’s creative work with E! News‘ Will Marfuggi at the November 4 premiere of Madden in Los Angeles.
Bale praised Luka’s photography and modeling, describing her imagination and visual instincts as reasons he could see her moving behind the camera. “I’m so bloody proud of her,” he said.
Luka is the eldest of two children Bale shares with wife Sibi Blažić. The couple married in 2000 and welcomed a son in 2014. Blažić joined him at the premiere, where they wore coordinating dark suits.

Asked whether he had offered Luka advice about entering a public-facing career, Bale admitted that he was still figuring things out himself. He said he continued to make mistakes, but expressed confidence in his daughter’s judgment.
He explained his own reluctance to discuss family life in a 2010 interview with Esquire. Although he could happily talk about his daughter at length, he worried that giving audiences too much personal information would interfere with their ability to see him as a character rather than a familiar celebrity.

Luka appeared in Dolce & Gabbana’s Alta Moda presentation in Venice in 2021, when she was 16. She attended another of the fashion house’s presentations the following year with her parents and younger brother.
Her family returned to support her at the July 14, 2025, Alta Moda show in Rome. As PEOPLE reported, Bale arrived in a dark suit with Blažić and their son while Luka took part in the runway presentation.
Her portfolio has continued to expand. Models.com lists a November 2025 Double Vision cover photographed by Luigi & Iango, along with Dolce & Gabbana’s July 2026 Alta Moda show in Taormina. The industry directory identifies her as a model represented by The Society in New York and Elite Paris.
His Children Encouraged Him to Take His Thor Role
Bale’s children have already had a say in his film choices. In a June 2022 interview with Entertainment Tonight, he explained that the family discussed his work together, but he initially thought Thor: Love and Thunder would not be possible. His children insisted that he should make it, and he agreed.
Luka also appeared in the film, in which her father played Gorr the God Butcher. She had previously taken a small role in his 2019 movie Ford v Ferrari. Entertainment Weekly documented her background appearances in both productions, credited under the name Luka Bale.
At the Madden premiere, Bale joked that his children were accustomed to his work and the transformations it involved. Their reaction, he suggested, was less reverential than that of movie audiences.
His latest role is Oakland Raiders owner Al Davis, opposite Nicolas Cage as coach and broadcaster John Madden. Directed by David O. Russell, Madden opens in select theaters on November 11 before streaming globally on Prime Video on November 18.
