Emma Roberts and Cody John are married after exchanging vows during a private outdoor ceremony in Idaho on Saturday, July 25.
Roberts’ 5-year-old son, Rhodes, accompanied his mother down the aisle as the couple celebrated with close friends and relatives. Roberts shares Rhodes with her former partner Garrett Hedlund.
The wedding took place at a private residence in the Sun Valley area, with reports identifying the location as John’s family property. Roberts’ aunt Julia Roberts and Julia’s husband, Danny Moder, were among the family members who traveled to Idaho for the festivities.
The bride wore a custom Monique Lhuillier gown created from silk chiffon dyed in a pale “antique rose” shade. The vintage-inspired design took nine months and nearly 1,000 hours to complete.
Rhodes Walked His Mother Down the Aisle

Wedding photographs showed Roberts holding Rhodes’ hand as they approached the altar. He wore a light-colored suit with green shoes while his mother carried flowers and walked beside him in her flowing gown and veil.
The outdoor ceremony lasted approximately 45 minutes in temperatures reported to have reached 95 degrees, according to Page Six. Guests carried white vintage-style umbrellas for protection from the afternoon sun.
John wore a brown suit as he and Roberts exchanged vows on a circular wooden platform surrounded by trees and floral arrangements. People reported that representatives for the couple had not issued a statement immediately after the ceremony.
Her Gown Was Dyed a Custom ‘Antique Rose’ Shade

Roberts worked with Monique Lhuillier and stylists Brit and Kara Elkin for nine months to create a gown influenced by her interest in antique books, vintage clothing and collecting old objects. “I didn’t really know what I wanted,” Roberts told Vogue during her final fitting. “I just knew that I wanted it to feel very vintage-inspired.”
The dress used approximately 25 yards of silk chiffon dyed in a tea-stained color that Lhuillier named “antique rose,” a reference to Roberts’ middle name. The fabric was draped over a lightly visible corset and extended into a layered skirt with a high slit and a bustle designed to give Roberts more movement during the reception.
A removable shawl trimmed with ecru French lace created an asymmetrical neckline and dramatic train. Lhuillier also made a chapel-length veil from matching silk tulle and a lace voilette that could be pushed back and worn like a headband. Roberts said she did not want a pure white dress and instead hoped to resemble “a little antique ghost doll.” After seeing the completed look, she described herself as an “elfin fairy.”
Roberts Changed Into an Archival Black Look
For the after-party, Roberts changed into a two-piece Monique Lhuillier design from the label’s Fall 2004 collection. The archival outfit paired a black Chantilly lace corset with a tea-length skirt made from layers of hand-cut silk organza.
“I love the idea of wearing black for the after party,” Roberts told Vogue. She said the outfit could appear to be either 100 years old or contemporary, matching the deliberately unexpected style she wanted for the Idaho celebration.
The festivities had begun the previous evening with a rehearsal dinner. Roberts and John later visited bars in nearby Ketchum with members of their wedding party and family before returning to the Sun Valley Lodge, according to Page Six.
Julia Roberts Joined the Family Celebration
Julia Roberts attended with Moder, adding another family connection to the intimate guest list. Emma is the daughter of actor Eric Roberts, Julia’s older brother, and Kelly Cunningham.
Roberts and John first made their relationship public in August 2022 when he posted a photograph of them kissing. She featured him on her own Instagram account later that year, and the couple announced their engagement in July 2024. “Putting this here before my mom tells everyone,” Roberts wrote beside the engagement photograph displaying her diamond ring.
