Jake Reiner has made his first public appearance since the deaths of his parents, Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner.
The 35-year-old actor and podcaster stepped out on Tuesday, June 23, for the Los Angeles premiere of HBO’s new comedy series Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness.
The appearance carried a personal connection.
The series was created by Larry David, a close friend of Rob and Michele.

Jake attended the premiere at the Hollywood Legion Theater in a black blazer, black pants and a gray T-shirt. He later shared photos from the event on Instagram and told followers to look for him in the show’s first episode.
His return to a red carpet came more than six months after Rob and Michele were found dead in their Brentwood, California, home.
Rob and Michele Reiner Were Found Dead in December
Rob, 78, and Michele, 70, were found dead in December 2025. Their younger son, Nick Reiner, was arrested hours later and later charged with two counts of first-degree murder in connection with their deaths.
Nick has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors are pursuing special circumstances, but the criminal case has not been resolved.
Rob and Michele also shared daughter Romy. Rob had an older daughter, Tracey, from his previous marriage to Penny Marshall.
Jake Previously Wrote About His Grief
In April, Jake published a personal Substack essay about the night he learned his parents had died. He wrote that he was at Union Station attending a memorial for one of his closest friends when he received the call from his sister.
He described the ride back to the Westside as unbearable and wrote about the milestones his parents will not see, including his future wedding, future children and career moments he still hopes to reach.
Jake also described Rob and Michele as guiding lights in his life and wrote about the difficulty of processing both losses at once.
The Premiere Had a Family Connection
Jake’s appearance at Life, Larry and the Pursuit of Unhappiness was not a random red carpet return. Larry David was close to Rob and Michele, and Jake used the premiere to quietly support a project tied to that family friendship.
