Jelly Roll has filed for divorce from Bunnie XO after nearly 10 years of marriage, ending one of country music’s most public relationships.
The singer, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed in Williamson County, Tennessee, on May 18, according to People. TMZ was first to report the filing.
The divorce news comes only months after Jelly Roll thanked Bunnie XO during an emotional Grammy Awards speech. In February, he won Best Contemporary Country Album for Beautifully Broken and credited his wife and his faith with helping him survive the darkest parts of his life.
Representatives for both stars did not immediately respond to People’s requests for comment. Neither Jelly Roll nor Bunnie XO has publicly explained the split.
The Divorce Filing Came After a Very Public Grammy Moment

People reported that Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO appeared affectionate at the 2026 Grammy Awards, posing together and sharing kisses on the red carpet before his win.
His acceptance speech made the later divorce news feel especially abrupt. People reported that Jelly Roll thanked his “beautiful wife” from the stage and said he would not have changed his life without her.
The Grammy moment fit the way the couple had often spoken about their relationship in public. They described the marriage as hard-won, unconventional and closely tied to Jelly Roll’s transformation from struggling artist to mainstream country star.
They Married in Las Vegas and Renewed Their Vows Years Later
Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO met in 2015 at one of his shows at Las Vegas’ Country Saloon, according to People. He proposed the next year while onstage in Las Vegas.
The couple married the same night in a private courthouse ceremony without telling friends or family. They later returned to Las Vegas to renew their vows in 2023.
Their relationship became part of Jelly Roll’s public story as his music career grew. People reported that Bunnie embraced her role as stepmother to Jelly Roll’s daughter Bailee and son Noah.
The couple had also spoken publicly about hoping to have a child together through surrogacy. That made the divorce filing a striking turn for fans who had followed their family plans, Grammy appearances and public interviews over the past year.
The Couple Had Already Talked About Hard Years
The filing follows a period in which both Jelly Roll and Bunnie XO had spoken openly about painful moments in their marriage.
In February, People reported that Jelly Roll discussed how he and Bunnie had tried to heal after difficult times, including a 2018 split after Bunnie learned he had been having an affair. Jelly Roll previously called the affair one of the worst moments of his adulthood.
Bunnie also wrote about that period in her 2026 memoir, Stripped Down: Unfiltered and Unapologetic. People reported that she said she left Jelly Roll at the time, but later believed he deserved a second chance.
Bunnie XO Posted Cryptic Messages Before the News Broke
Hours before news of the divorce filing became public, Bunnie XO shared several Instagram Stories that drew attention afterward.
People reported that she posted a lingerie photo with the text, “She’s getting her sparkle back,” set to Metric’s “Help I’m Alive.” She also shared a screenshot of a text message that read, “Come here, let me show you what love feels like.”
Entertainment Weekly reported that Bunnie also posted a video of herself lip-synching to Nickelback’s “How You Remind Me.” The timing made the posts part of the breakup conversation, though Bunnie did not directly say they were about the divorce.
