Jennifer Lawrence has undergone breast surgery after welcoming her second child, following through on plans she discussed publicly last year. She also intends to have a facelift someday.
The 36-year-old Oscar winner discussed her approach to beauty in an October 27 profile by The Cut. The interview accompanied the launch of mes°, the haircare company she spent three years developing.
Lawrence and her husband, art dealer Cooke Maroney, have two sons. Their eldest, Cy, was born in 2022, and they welcomed their younger son in 2025. The couple married in October 2019.
“I want to be a sexy mom,” Lawrence said while describing how she hopes to look at school drop-off. Her goal is to appear put-together even on mornings when she has just woken up and feels anything but organized.
She Had Planned Breast Surgery After Her Second Pregnancy

In an October 27, 2025, interview with The New Yorker, Lawrence told Jia Tolentino that her body had recovered differently after each pregnancy. She felt it had largely returned to its previous shape after her first child. “Second one, nothing bounced back,” she said.
She was also expecting to film another nude scene the following spring. Her work had made the appointment more urgent, she acknowledged, but she thought she would probably want the surgery even if she weren’t a famous actress.
Acting Shapes Her Decisions About Facial Treatments
Lawrence’s interest in a facelift also came up in the 2025 conversation. Asked whether she had already had one, she replied, “No,” before adding, “But, believe me, I’m gonna!”
She has been more cautious about treatments that could affect her expressions onscreen. In a September 3, 2026, interview with Vogue, Lawrence said she receives small amounts of Botox because she needs to retain movement in her face.
She also expressed interest in buccal fat removal, but said the change would be too noticeable. Facial fat transfers made her nervous. She wanted to see other people’s results before considering that option herself. Radiofrequency facials were among the treatments she said she enjoyed.
Her Haircare Company Began With a Search for Better Products

Lawrence’s interest in haircare began long before she started a company. Growing up in Kentucky, she struggled with thick curls that required regular help. She told NYLON that her mother took her to a salon each week to have her hair detangled.
Learning to care for it at night became a lasting routine. She still sleeps with her hair in a braid, then uses water and serum to reshape it the next morning.
Movie work brought different problems. Her hair was dyed four colors in a day for an X-Men screen test, and damage after The Hunger Games: Catching Fire led her to get a pixie cut in 2013.
Her search for products that could reduce the need for heat styling eventually led her to Jasmina Aganovic, founder of biotechnology company Arcaea. After watching Aganovic’s TED Talk in 2023, Lawrence contacted her about working together.
Her Husband Complained After a Four-Day Hair-Mask Test
Their debut collection launched on October 27. The mes° website lists three products: Multitask Repair Mask, Off-Duty Restyling Serum and Good Roots Volume Mist. The name is pronounced “mess.”
Lawrence tested formulas herself and sent the serum back to the laboratory almost 150 times, according to The Cut. She also helped develop the bottles, logo and fragrance, taking scent-training classes and seeking feedback from friends.
Some experiments were less welcome at home. She left an unscented version of the mask in her hair for four days and said it began to smell like fish. Maroney urged her to wash it out. “If you don’t wash your hair, you have to get a hotel room,” she recalled him telling her.
