Kim Kardashian’s newest addition to her car collection is a restored 1973 Ford Bronco built for her Idaho summer home, but several commenters focused on the vehicle’s name.

Some commenters connected the Bronco to O.J. Simpson’s televised 1994 police chase and Robert Kardashian Sr.’s role on Simpson’s defense team.

“Pretty weird,” one person wrote, while another asked readers to consider the history between Simpson and Kardashian’s late father, according to OK!.

Others rejected the comparison. “She can’t drive a Bronco because of someone her dad represented??? Do you guys hear yourself? No, it’s not weird!” one commenter responded.

Kardashian’s Bronco was restored and modernized by Velocity Restorations. The company’s builds retain the appearance of classic vehicles while replacing or upgrading their mechanical components. Complex reported that the vehicle was first delivered to Los Angeles before being transported to Kardashian’s summer property near Coeur d’Alene, Idaho.

The forest-green truck predates the Bronco involved in Simpson’s police pursuit by 20 years. It also belongs to an earlier generation of the Ford model and bears little visual resemblance to the white 1993 SUV seen during the chase.

The 1994 Chase Made the White Bronco Famous

Simpson was expected to surrender to authorities on June 17, 1994, after being charged with the murders of his former wife, Nicole Brown Simpson, and her friend Ron Goldman. After he failed to appear, authorities eventually located him inside a white Ford Bronco traveling through Southern California.

The vehicle belonged to Simpson’s friend and former NFL teammate Al Cowlings, who was driving while Simpson sat in the back. The approximately two-hour pursuit interrupted coverage of Game 5 of the NBA Finals and was watched by more than 95 million people, according to the Alcatraz East Crime Museum, where the vehicle has been displayed.

Simpson owned a nearly identical white Bronco, but investigators had already seized his vehicle as evidence. The SUV seen during the chase was Cowlings’ 1993 model, which he later sold.

Robert Kardashian Served on Simpson’s Defense Team

Robert Kardashian had been friends with Simpson before joining the group of attorneys commonly called the “Dream Team.” The defense also included Johnnie Cochran, Robert Shapiro and F. Lee Bailey.

Simpson was acquitted of the murder charges in October 1995. A civil jury later found him liable for the wrongful deaths of Brown Simpson and Goldman and awarded their families $33.5 million in damages.

Kim has previously described how the case divided her parents. Robert supported Simpson during the criminal trial, while Kris Jenner had been a close friend of Brown Simpson and sat with her family in court.

“It tore my family apart, I’d say, for the whole time of the trial,” Kim said during a 2020 appearance on My Next Guest Needs No Introduction With David Letterman, according to People.
