Kim Zolciak has paid $2,535 in court-ordered fees after a Georgia judge warned that she could face incarceration if she failed to settle the bill.
The money was owed to the guardian ad litem appointed in Zolciak’s ongoing divorce and custody case with Kroy Biermann.
Sources familiar with the matter told TMZ that the former Real Housewives of Atlanta star paid the full amount on Tuesday, July 14.
The court’s order reportedly gave Zolciak until the following month to make the payment and said she could be incarcerated if she did not comply.
The Fee Was Owed to the Court-Appointed Guardian
The guardian ad litem has interviewed Zolciak, Biermann and their children while examining issues connected to the custody case. A guardian ad litem is appointed to investigate matters affecting children and provide information intended to help the court make decisions in their best interests.
Zolciak and Biermann share sons Kroy “KJ” Jagger Jr. and Kash Kade, along with twins Kaia Rose and Kane Ren. The guardian has also been responsible for verifying compliance with some of the counseling requirements imposed during the custody proceedings.
In April, Zolciak was ordered to complete four “parent therapy” sessions after missing earlier counseling appointments while working outside the country. The children were to remain in Biermann’s physical custody until she completed the sessions, according to court documents obtained by People.
Zolciak said at the time that the arrangement was temporary and disputed reports that she had permanently lost custody. The court order stated that the previous parenting plan would resume after the four sessions unless the parties reached another agreement or the judge modified it.
Zolciak Has Challenged the Guardian’s Work
The unpaid fee emerged after months of disputes involving the guardian’s investigation. Zolciak has argued in court filings that her concerns about Biermann’s parenting and alleged behavior were not being properly addressed.
In a June filing, she claimed the guardian had recommended that Biermann participate in anger-management therapy and asked the court for an emergency hearing over the children’s living arrangements. TMZ reported at the time that the court had not ruled on her request.
Biermann has made competing allegations about Zolciak’s parenting and has rejected her claim that the guardian was unfairly working against her. Zolciak has denied his accusations.
The Divorce and Custody Case Remain Active
Zolciak and Biermann first filed for divorce in spring 2023 after nearly 12 years of marriage. They dismissed the initial cases while attempting to reconcile, but Biermann filed for divorce again in August 2023.
The proceedings have since included disputes over custody, counseling, support and compliance with court orders. Biermann currently has primary physical custody of the four minor children, while the parents retain joint legal custody, according to People.
