LaVar Ball is facing a six-figure renovation lawsuit days after he publicly said his nearly 30-year marriage to Tina Ball had ended.
The Big Baller Brand figure and father of Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo Ball is being sued by MD Steel Inc. over an alleged unpaid balance tied to work at his home.
TMZ Sports reported that the contractor claims it performed labor connected to an at-home basketball court and later home renovations.
The Contractor Claims Ball Still Owes $221,928
According to TMZ, MD Steel Inc. claims the expenses for the work came to roughly $970,000. The company alleges Ball paid about $750,000 but did not cover the remaining balance.
The contractor is asking the court to help collect $221,928, according to the report. The work allegedly included installation of a home basketball court and additional renovations at Ball’s property.
TMZ reported that the home was described as having eight bedrooms, 11 bathrooms, and about 15,000 square feet. The basketball-court detail connects the lawsuit to the image Ball built for years around his sons’ basketball careers, his training methods, and the family’s sports brand.

The renovation lawsuit came shortly after Ball addressed the end of his marriage during a June 24 livestream with creator N3on. People reported that Ball said Tina “decided to go her own way” and added, “We had our run.”
Ball also said he is seeing someone new, but he did not identify the person. The comments marked a rare public update on a relationship that had been part of the Ball family story since before Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo became national sports names.
LaVar and Tina married in 1997 and share three sons. Their family became a fixture in basketball and pop-culture coverage through the brothers’ rise, Big Baller Brand, and the reality series Ball in the Family.
Tina Ball’s Health Was Also Part of the Conversation
TMZ also reported on Ball’s livestream comments about Tina’s 2017 stroke. People noted that the stroke caused aphasia, and Ball spoke about the years they spent together before describing the split as a decision Tina made.
Ball’s own health has also been part of his recent public story. People reported that he discussed his 2025 leg amputation during the same livestream, saying complications from diabetes led to multiple surgeries before the amputation.
