Luke Wilson has quietly become a father for the first time.
PEOPLE confirmed that Wilson, 54, and his girlfriend Kendall Yates, 24, have welcomed their first child together, a baby girl.
The couple introduced their newborn during a press reception for Wilson’s upcoming Netflix comedy series The Hawk at The Resort at Pelican Hill in Newport Beach, California.

Wilson and Yates brought their daughter to the July 7 reception, where Yates carried the baby in a carrier.
PEOPLE reported that the family arrived just after 5 p.m., left before the event ended at 7 p.m., and introduced the newborn to guests and Wilson’s castmates, including Jimmy Tatro.
Page Six also reported the baby news, noting that a representative for Wilson was not immediately available for comment. The couple has not made a separate public statement about the baby’s name or birth date.
Wilson and Yates Have Kept Their Relationship Low-Key
Wilson and Yates have largely kept their relationship out of the spotlight. PEOPLE reported that the couple has been dating for a few years and were photographed together in Los Angeles in April.
Entertainment Weekly reported that they have been linked since at least January 2023, when they were seen together during a beach outing.
They later made a public event appearance in June 2024 at an after-party for Wilson’s film Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
Fatherhood Has Been on Wilson’s Mind for Years
Wilson previously spoke about wanting children long before this new family update. In 2007, he told PEOPLE that he wanted kids at some point.
Entertainment Weekly noted that he later joked during a 2020 appearance with Conan O’Brien that being around his nieces and nephews made him want children of his own.
The actor also described himself as a “fun uncle” to the children of his brothers, Owen Wilson and Andrew Wilson. Now, Wilson joins both of them in parenthood, with Owen a father of three and Andrew known to have at least one child.

The baby’s first public appearance happened during promotion for The Hawk, Wilson’s upcoming Netflix comedy series.
Netflix describes the show as a comedy about golf legend Lonnie “The Hawk” Hawkins, played by Will Ferrell, chasing one final major while pulling everyone around him into the chaos. Wilson plays Golden Fisk, a rival golfer connected to Hawkins’ comeback story.
Wilson has spent decades as one of Hollywood’s most familiar comic actors, with roles in films such as Legally Blonde, Old School, Anchorman, The Royal Tenenbaums and Horizon: An American Saga – Chapter 1.
