TMZ reported that Bryant is being held after a judge found he violated probation. Jail records listed the current charges as failure to pay child support, probation violation and failure to appear, according to the outlet. Page Six reported that Bryant, 36, has remained behind bars since the May 1 booking.
Us Weekly said it reached out to Leakes’ representative for comment. Page Six also reported that a representative for Leakes was not immediately available for comment.
The Probation Came From an Earlier Georgia Case
The probation issue traces back to Bryant’s earlier arrest in Lawrenceville, Georgia. People reported in 2023 that Bryant had been arrested on charges that included possession of a Schedule II controlled substance, loitering or prowling, violation of probation and giving a false name, address or birthdate.
People reported that police said Bryant initially identified himself as Brentt Leakes, the name of NeNe’s younger son, before officers learned his real identity.
TMZ reported that Bryant was later charged with giving a false name to officers and possession of a controlled substance. The outlet said the drug charge was dropped as part of a plea agreement, but Bryant received 12 months of probation.
The Probation Terms Included Testing and Community Service
TMZ reported that Bryant’s probation terms included a $500 fine, 40 hours of community service, random drug testing and a substance-abuse evaluation. Us Weekly also reported that Bryant was ordered to pay the fine, complete community service and submit to random drug testing after the drug charge was dismissed under the plea agreement.
TMZ also reported that court documents filed June 2 said prosecutors claimed Bryant failed to report, failed to complete a substance-abuse evaluation, failed to complete community service and failed to make payments on the fine.
NeNe Leakes Previously Spoke About Her Son’s Struggles
Leakes previously addressed Bryant’s legal situation and substance-use struggles during a 2023 appearance on Carlos King’s Reality With the King podcast. People reported that Leakes said Bryant “needs rehabilitation” and “a lot of counseling.” She also said he had struggled with addiction for years and had been to rehab before.
“As a mom just to watch it, my hands are tied,” Leakes said, according to People. She said Bryant was an adult and that he had to be ready to make changes himself.
Us Weekly reported that Leakes also said she had spent significant money trying to get Bryant help, but had learned through counseling that the decision to get help had to come from him.
