Niecy Nash-Betts kept Taylor Swift and Travis Kelce’s wedding details secret when she attended their closely guarded celebration. Now, the actress is sharing one of the playful ways the newlyweds entertained their guests.
During the July 23 episode of Jimmy Kimmel Live!, Nash-Betts told guest host Colman Domingo that attendees could play games, collect tickets and enter drawings for prizes distributed later in the evening.
The actress said guests were “under embargo” before the July 3 wedding at Madison Square Garden.
Phones were also taken away and secured during the event, limiting what attendees could share from inside the venue.

Domingo introduced the subject by joking that Nash-Betts had attended the wedding without telling him or securing an invitation for him. “Because, you know, you’re under embargo. It was top secret,” Nash-Betts replied.
She then described a reception built around activities rather than an evening limited to speeches, dinner and musical performances. “They had a lot of games,” she said.
“You can play a game and then when you get a ticket for the game you played, you put it in the bucket and figure out if you can win the prizes that they gave away at the end.” “So, that part was lovely,” Nash-Betts added.
Nash-Betts Said Guests Had to ‘Zip the Lip’
“I don’t think I’m speaking out of school because y’all seen it all online now, right?” she said. “But at the time, you know, you had to zip the lip.” The actress also said attendees surrendered their phones, which were placed in secured glass cases during the celebration.
Swift and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden on July 3 after keeping the location and guest arrangements private. The reception reportedly included a secret-garden setting, continuous entertainment, games and a raffle.
She Joked About Adam Sandler’s Wedding Attire
Nash-Betts also addressed Adam Sandler’s unexpected role as the wedding officiant. “I didn’t know what he was going to have on,” she said. “Well, you know, for Adam, he looked decent.”
Guests reportedly initially thought Sandler’s appearance was a joke, but the comedian proceeded to deliver a 20-to-30-minute address that combined humor, personal observations and marriage advice.
Sandler encouraged Swift and Kelce to kiss frequently and joked about the traditional “for richer or poorer” language because neither newlywed was likely to face financial hardship.
Nash-Betts Worked With Kelce on ‘Grotesquerie’
Nash-Betts developed a friendship with Kelce while working with him on the 2024 FX horror drama Grotesquerie. Kelce made his first major scripted television appearance as Ed Laclan, a hospital orderly who becomes connected to Nash-Betts’ character, Detective Lois Tryon.
After attending the wedding with her wife, Jessica Betts, Nash-Betts wrote that “the love in the room was palpable” and that no detail had been overlooked.
