Samantha Busch is speaking openly about the daily reality of parenting while grieving the death of her husband, NASCAR champion Kyle Busch.
In a June 24 Instagram post, Samantha reflected on life with the couple’s two children, 11-year-old Brexton and 4-year-old Lennix, after Kyle’s death in May. People reported that she described trying to keep going for her children while missing her husband “every second of every day.”
Samantha wrote about crying before the kids wake up, making pancakes anyway, answering questions, wiping tears, reading bedtime stories, and helping Brexton and Lennix through a loss they are still trying to understand.
Her message arrived just over a month after Kyle died at age 41. The two-time NASCAR Cup Series champion’s death was announced May 21 in a joint statement from the Busch family, Richard Childress Racing, and NASCAR.
Samantha Busch Said Grief Does Not Pause Motherhood

Samantha wrote that she lost “the love of my life,” but said she is still Mom. Her post centered on the ordinary parenting tasks that continue after a family death, including keeping routines steady, comforting the children, and protecting them from what she called the full weight of the pain.
She also pushed back on the idea that she is simply being strong. Us Weekly noted that Samantha wrote she does not feel strong most days, but still gets up because Brexton and Lennix need her.
The post ended with a dedication to her children and to Kyle. Samantha wrote that she keeps going for Brexton, for Lennix, and for him.
Her Children Remain at the Center of Her Message
Samantha framed the post around the two children she shared with Kyle. Brexton, 11, has already followed his father into racing, while Lennix, 4, is still young enough that much of the family’s loss has to be explained in small daily moments.
People reported that Samantha described early mornings, bedtime routines, and the quiet work of helping children feel safe while she is grieving herself. She did not present the process as polished or inspirational. She described motherhood as something that continues even when grief is still raw.
Kyle Busch Died in May at Age 41
Kyle died on May 21 at age 41. In a joint statement, NASCAR, Richard Childress Racing, and the Busch family called his death sudden and tragic and asked for privacy for Samantha, Brexton, Lennix, and the wider family.
Kyle was one of NASCAR’s most accomplished drivers. He won Cup Series championships in 2015 and 2019, earned 63 Cup Series victories, and became the winningest driver across NASCAR’s three national series.
ESPN later reported that the Busch family said severe pneumonia had progressed into sepsis, leading to rapid complications. A later ESPN report said the medical examiner found that complications from bacterial pneumonia led to hemorrhagic shock and disseminated intravascular coagulation.

Samantha’s latest post followed an emotional Father’s Day tribute shared about a month after Kyle’s death. Entertainment Weekly reported that she posted a video montage of Kyle with Brexton and Lennix and wrote that the holiday still did not feel real.
In that earlier message, Samantha said the cards for Father’s Day had already been made and the kids had plans for the day. She also wrote that she would keep telling Kyle’s stories so Brexton and Lennix know how deeply their father loved them.
