Shivon Zilis says Elon Musk ended their relationship “with no warning.” She announced the split on Oct. 2 in an X post, attaching a screenshot of a private text conversation.
She was responding to Big Tech Alert, an account that had reported Musk was no longer following her. Zilis is the director of operations and special projects at Neuralink, according to Forbes.
The pair share four children: twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia and son Seldon Lycurgus.
PEOPLE said Musk’s representatives did not immediately respond to its requests for comment when it published its report. Zilis did not specify the date he told her the relationship was over.

In the screenshot she shared, Zilis thanked Musk for breakfast and told him she loved him. A reply beneath a Sept. 24 timestamp read, “Love you too.” The exchange was eight days before her public announcement.
Musk then wrote that he had not realized he could bring a partner to a dinner and would otherwise have invited her. Zilis thanked him and replied with a heart emoji. On Sept. 27, she posted “New day, new life,” without further explanation, Quartz reported.
Zilis Said She Still Cared About Musk
In her statement, Zilis recalled the family’s excitement when Musk arrived and said she took pleasure in cheering him up when he was down. “I will miss him dearly,” she wrote.
She also credited him with teaching her and bringing meaning to her life. Despite her hurt, she wrote that she still cared about him and wished him happiness.

The twins were born in November 2021. Their parentage became public the following July through Insider’s reporting on a Texas name-change petition. Reuters reported that the parents sought to give the children Musk’s surname and include Zilis’s surname in their middle names. It also checked a docket summary showing that a judge approved the petition in May 2022.
Arcadia arrived in February 2024. On her first birthday, Zilis announced that she and Musk also had a son, Seldon. In that 2025 announcement, she said the two had discussed sharing the news publicly. She did not give Seldon’s birth date, and Musk responded to the post with a heart emoji.
In her breakup statement, Zilis wrote that her children made each day better. She said she hoped she and Musk could become “great friends and coparents.”
