Country singers Stella Lefty and Vincent Mason have turned their relationship into one of Nashville’s most visible new romance stories, with a duet, red-carpet appearances and joint performances now feeding both fan interest and skepticism.
A new Daily Mail report says some people around Nashville have questioned whether the relationship was timed for publicity. The report leans heavily on unnamed sources and online criticism, and it does not present proof that Lefty and Mason’s romance was arranged by their teams.
The couple have publicly described a different version of how they met. Lefty said she first noticed Mason in a concert video and tried to set up a writing session, while Mason later contacted her directly after seeing a clip of her song “Thinking ’bout You.”
Their duet, “Something to Lose,” arrived May 15 as the focus track from Lefty’s EP Is This Heaven?. Since then, the two have appeared together at the ACM Awards, performed the song live and referred to each other publicly as boyfriend and girlfriend.
Lefty Said the Connection Started Before the Duet
Lefty told Country Now that she first saw Mason in a video with country singer Ashley Cooke. She said she thought he was attractive and asked her manager whether Mason might want to write with her if he came to Los Angeles, but the request never reached him.
Mason later sent Lefty a direct message after watching a video of her performing “Thinking ’bout You.” The conversation moved from music to a date, and the two began posting videos together in April.
Those early clips prompted questions about whether they were dating before either singer gave a clear answer. Country Now later identified Lefty as Mason’s girlfriend while covering the pair’s ACM Awards appearance.
‘Something to Lose’ Put the Relationship Into the Music
“Something to Lose” was released as the focus track from Lefty’s six-song EP Is This Heaven?. Country Now described the song as a duet about two guarded people realizing that the relationship has become serious.
Lefty wrote the track with Grace Enger, Jon Decious and Luke Dick. Mason takes the second verse, and the two join on the final chorus.
The official lyric video uses footage of the couple together. They later performed the song during CMA Fest in Nashville, where social posts from country outlets again referred to them as a couple.
The PR-Stunt Claims Came From Backstage and Online Criticism
The Daily Mail report says some people in Nashville have questioned the timing of the romance and the duet. The report also cites online criticism aimed at Lefty’s family background and the speed of her rise.
Lefty’s father is Eric Lefkofsky, the businessman who co-founded Groupon and later founded Tempus AI. Critics cited by the Daily Mail have described Lefty as a “nepo baby” and “industry plant,” but the report does not show a contract, payment or named source proving that the relationship with Mason was staged.

Mason had already released songs including “Hell Is a Dance Floor” and “Wish You Well” before the duet. His debut album, There I Go, arrived before his 2026 ACM Awards nomination for New Male Artist of the Year.
He also booked major support slots. AntiMusic reported that Mason had dates with Morgan Wallen, Parker McCollum and Thomas Rhett while promoting his 2026 single “Don’t Ask Me.”
Lefty’s own profile rose with “Boston,” a country-pop single built around an interpolation of Noah Kahan’s “Stick Season.” The song entered the Billboard Hot 100 before the release of Is This Heaven?.
The Couple Have Kept Appearing Together
Lefty and Mason appeared together at the ACM Awards in Las Vegas in May. Country Now filmed them at the event and described Lefty as Mason’s new girlfriend.
The pair later performed “Something to Lose” during CMA Fest. Country outlets shared clips from the performance, and Music Mayhem referred to Mason and Lefty as boyfriend and girlfriend in its social coverage.
Neither singer has publicly said the relationship was staged.
