Sonya Curry, the mother of NBA players Stephen and Seth Curry, has revealed that she is married again.

The 60-year-old author announced the news on Instagram on October 8, sharing photographs from the celebration. She did not identify her new husband by name, PEOPLE reported.

The couple married over the summer at the Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona, according to the New York Post.

Sonya and former NBA player Dell Curry announced their split five years earlier.

Sonya began her wedding announcement with Ecclesiastes 3:1-14. Looking back over the previous seven years, she said she had experienced every season described in the passage.

Her mother died unexpectedly about a year earlier, around the time the person she called “the most amazing man” entered her life. She wrote that they married months later.

Sonya wrote that God “has seen every tear I’ve cried and answered every prayer” about the kind of partner she had hoped to find if she married again.

She also encouraged followers to keep hoping for the things they wanted in their own lives, whether marriage or another goal, telling them it was “never too late.”

Sonya credited the wedding team with organizing the event in nine weeks. Planner Kristi Lee wrote in their joint post that the celebration fell “on one of the busiest and hottest weekends of the year in Scottsdale.”

The bride wore a white Pnina Tornai gown from Kleinfeld Bridal with gold floral detailing, paired with Iza diamonds. The decor included white roses and candles, while the three-tier cake was decorated with flowers.

Arizona-based roller-skating performers the Zoni Girls entertained at the reception. Other photographs showed Sonya dancing in the DJ booth and the newlyweds kissing in front of fireworks.

Commenters Point to a Wedding Photo Labeled ‘André W.’

Among the instant portraits in the wedding carousel is a photograph with “André W.” handwritten beneath it. The portrait features a black, high-collared jacket with decorative buttons, similar to the groom’s outfit in the sunset photograph. Commenters suggested a connection, with one urging others to “look at the man’s clothes on picture 20.”

A separate photograph shows an intertwined gold monogram on the wedding cake that appears to read “AS.” The letters could stand for André and Sonya, but that interpretation, like the commenters’ clothing comparison, remains unconfirmed.

Steph and Seth Joined the Family Celebration

The additional carousel, shared October 9, included Stephen on the dance floor cheering on his eldest daughter, Riley. A collection of guest Polaroids also showed his wife, Ayesha, along with Seth and his wife, Callie Rivers.

Sonya and Dell met as student-athletes at Virginia Tech and married in 1988. They also have a daughter, Sydel. In their joint statement to PEOPLE about the separation, the former couple said they had explored a trial separation over the previous year.
“We stay committed to and supportive of our children and grandchildren and will remain on connected paths,” they said.

Sonya’s Memoir Explored Motherhood, Education and Faith

Sonya published Fierce Love: A Memoir of Family, Faith, and Purpose in May 2022. The book traced her childhood in rural Virginia, her experiences raising her family and the spiritual beliefs she relied on through difficult periods.

Her career in education included founding the Christian Montessori School of Lake Norman in North Carolina. According to her official biography, she earned a degree in family and child development from Virginia Tech and Montessori certification for working with infants, toddlers and primary-school children.

“My mom was always the one to challenge us growing up,” Seth said in a statement accompanying the book announcement.
