Taylor Swift’s new song “Cleveland!” turns Travis Kelce’s Ohio roots into one of the most direct love songs about their relationship since the couple married this summer.
Released Sept. 25 on The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, the track takes Swift through Cleveland Heights, where Kelce grew up, while also addressing people who have criticized her appearance, personality and relationship.
Swift later brings their July 3 wedding into the song with the brief line “now I’m wearing white,” less than three months after she and Kelce married at Madison Square Garden.
The song arrives as Swift and Kelce have established another connection to Northeast Ohio. Earlier this year, they purchased a lakefront estate in Bratenahl, just outside Cleveland.
‘Cleveland!’ Takes Swift Back to Kelce’s Hometown
Kelce grew up in Cleveland Heights with his older brother, Jason, and Swift makes the location central to the song. She describes being taken through Cleveland and seeing the neighborhood and childhood home connected to Kelce’s early life.
The Heights reference also shares its name with New Heights, the podcast Travis and Jason host together, although Swift has not said whether that additional connection was intentional.
The couple’s ties to the area expanded in March when they purchased a $5.35 million property in Bratenahl. Cleveland Magazine reported that the 3.5-acre estate sits along Lake Erie and was purchased several months before their New York wedding.
Swift Brings Their Marriage and Her Critics Into the Same Song
Swift spends part of “Cleveland!” acknowledging negative commentary about herself rather than presenting the relationship as universally celebrated.
The song references criticism of her looks, personality and age before contrasting those outside opinions with Kelce’s feelings about her. Instead of responding to a particular person or controversy, Swift treats the criticism collectively and keeps the focus on the relationship she values.
The final chorus then shifts to marriage with the reference to wearing white. Swift and Kelce married July 3 at Madison Square Garden after announcing their engagement in August 2025.
Since the wedding, Swift has continued attending Kelce’s Kansas City Chiefs games and was recently filmed pointing toward her wedding ring after he scored his first touchdown of the season.

Swift announced The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore on Sept. 23, adding “Cleveland!,” “Patient Zero,” “Pink Clouding” and “Babylon” to the original album.
She explained that the four songs came from a trip to Sweden with Max Martin and Shellback. The collaborators initially planned to celebrate the success of The Life of a Showgirl, but another studio session produced the additional material. Swift announced the expanded album on Instagram.
All four tracks were released Sept. 25 as part of The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore.
