Travis Kelce did not announce a name change, but one Instagram like was enough to send Taylor Swift fans into another wedding debate.

The Kansas City Chiefs tight end liked a video from the Bussin’ with the Boys podcast in which the hosts discussed what last name Swift and Kelce might use after their wedding. PEOPLE reported that the clip included jokes about whether Swift would become Taylor Kelce, whether Kelce should become Travis Swift, or whether a hyphenated name would make more sense.

The like did not confirm anything about the couple’s plans. It only showed Kelce engaging with a joke about one of the many small questions now attached to his upcoming wedding to one of the most famous women in music.

PEOPLE reported that the Bussin’ with the Boys hosts discussed the couple after Swift and Kelce attended a Cleveland Cavaliers game on May 23.

During the conversation, the hosts joked that Swift is far more famous globally, so Kelce might be the one expected to change his name. PEOPLE reported that the group tossed around “Taylor Kelce,” “Travis Swift,” and “Travis Swift-Kelce,” eventually deciding the hyphenated version sounded best.

Kelce’s like gave the clip more attention because he has not been offering many public answers about wedding details. The safer read is that he found the bit funny, not that he was hinting at a real decision.

The Couple Has Kept Wedding Details Private

Swift and Kelce announced their engagement in August 2025 with an Instagram post joking that “your English teacher and your gym teacher are getting married.” Since then, the biggest wedding details have stayed private.

Kelce spoke briefly about the early planning stage on the Sept. 3 episode of New Heights. PEOPLE reported that Jason Kelce warned him he was entering the wedding-planning phase, and Travis replied, “Oh, it’s gonna go crazy.”

On the same episode, Kelce joked about guest-list questions from the podcast team but did not share firm plans. PEOPLE also reported that a source said Swift and Kelce were still in celebration mode and had not fully entered wedding planning at that point.

Kylie Kelce Has Told Fans Not to Ask Her

The last-name debate is part of a wider fan obsession with every detail of the upcoming wedding. Jason Kelce’s wife, Kylie Kelce, addressed that pressure on her Not Gonna Lie podcast.

PEOPLE reported that Kylie told fans to stop asking her and her mother-in-law about the wedding because they were not sharing details. Her message was clear: the family is not giving out private information unless Swift and Kelce decide to do it themselves.

Kelce Also Had a Big Cleveland Week

The Instagram like was not Kelce’s only public storyline this week. Reuters reported that he became a minority owner of the Cleveland Guardians, adding a hometown investment to his off-field business portfolio.

Kelce grew up in Cleveland Heights, Ohio, and said in the team’s announcement that joining the Guardians’ ownership group was meaningful because of his connection to the city. Reuters reported that the Guardians plan to celebrate him during a June 14 game against the Detroit Tigers.

One Like Is Not a Name-Change Announcement

The main thing to know is simple: Kelce liked a funny clip about a question fans were already asking. It does not mean Swift will take his name, he will take hers, or the couple will hyphenate.

It does show how little it takes for a Swift-Kelce wedding detail to become entertainment news. A podcast joke, one Instagram like, and the couple’s enormous public interest were enough to turn a private paperwork question into a public guessing game.
