Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie’s daughter Vivienne has filed a court petition asking to remove “Pitt” from her legal surname.
The 18-year-old is requesting that her name be changed from Vivienne Marcheline Jolie-Pitt to Vivienne Marcheline Jolie, according to documents obtained by People.
The filing lists her reason only as “personal.”
Vivienne signed the petition on July 12, the day she and twin brother Knox turned 18. It was subsequently filed in Los Angeles County Superior Court, with a hearing scheduled for Nov. 2.

Vivienne signed the paperwork as soon as she became legally able to submit the petition as an adult. Entertainment Weekly reported that the petition was filed on July 20, eight days after her birthday.
The court hearing had initially been set for Oct. 30 before being moved to Nov. 2. A judge must still review and grant the request before the change becomes legally effective.
She Was Already Credited as Vivienne Jolie on Broadway
Vivienne began using the shortened name publicly before filing the court petition. In 2024, she was credited as “Vivienne Jolie” in the Playbill for the Broadway production of The Outsiders, on which she worked alongside her mother.
Jolie served as a lead producer on the musical after Vivienne introduced her to the stage adaptation. Vivienne was credited as a producer assistant and joined her mother at the 2024 Tony Awards, where The Outsiders won Best Musical.
Shiloh’s Name Change Was Granted, While Two Others Remain Pending
Vivienne is the fourth of Jolie and Pitt’s children to formally request the removal of “Pitt” from a legal surname. Her sister Shiloh filed to become Shiloh Nouvel Jolie on her 18th birthday in May 2024, and a judge granted that petition in August of the same year.
Maddox has since petitioned to change his name to Maddox Chivan Jolie, while Zahara is seeking to become Zahara Marley Jolie. Both requests remain pending, with Maddox’s hearing scheduled for Sept. 14 and Zahara’s set for Sept. 28.
Zahara had previously introduced herself publicly as Zahara Marley Jolie during her 2023 Alpha Kappa Alpha sorority induction and used that name when she crossed the stage at her Spelman College graduation in May 2026. Maddox was also credited without “Pitt” for his work on Jolie’s film Couture.
