Anne Hathaway is opening up about the happy surprise of expecting her third child with husband Adam Shulman.
People reported that Hathaway discussed the pregnancy during a July 14 appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers.
Just Jared reported that the Oscar winner said she and Shulman were shocked that baby No. 3 was on the way.
Hathaway Said They Were “So Shocked”
Hathaway told Meyers that the pregnancy has been “amazing,” then laughed while explaining why it surprised her. She said she and Shulman “knew what we were doing,” but were still shocked that it worked.
That is why the couple has started calling the baby their “buzzer-beater.” The phrase comes from basketball, where a shot goes in just before the clock runs out, making it a playful way to describe the timing of the pregnancy.
Hathaway also joked that the baby may be a good-luck charm for the New York Knicks after their recent run, keeping the conversation light while discussing the family news.
She Asked Seth Meyers for Parenting Advice
Because Meyers is also a parent of three, Hathaway asked him what life with three kids is like. He joked that after a while, it goes on autopilot and parents mostly watch things unfold.
Hathaway seemed relieved by the answer, joking that she already loves the “channel” she is watching now.

Hathaway and Shulman married in 2012 and share two sons, Jonathan and Jack. People reported that Hathaway announced her third pregnancy on June 19 with an Instagram video showing her in a flowing white dress as she cradled her baby bump.
