Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott brought their pregnancy news to the Tony Awards red carpet.
The couple stepped out together at the 79th annual Tony Awards on June 7 at Radio City Music Hall in New York City, where Plaza posed with her baby bump while Abbott attended as a Tony nominee.
People reported that Plaza wore a floor-length black Chanel column dress with white pinstripes. Abbott coordinated in a black velvet jacket, white shirt, black tie, and black pants.
The appearance gave the couple two clear red-carpet angles: Plaza’s first major public pregnancy moment since the news broke in April, and Abbott’s nomination for his Broadway performance in Death of a Salesman.

Abbott Was Nominated for Death of a Salesman
Abbott attended the Tonys as a nominee for Best Performance by an Actor in a Featured Role in a Play.
He was nominated for playing Biff Loman in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman, opposite Nathan Lane as Willy Loman and Laurie Metcalf as Linda Loman.
The revival had a major night, winning Best Revival of a Play and several other awards. Abbott’s category went to Alden Ehrenreich for Becky Shaw.
Plaza’s appearance beside Abbott put the pregnancy news into the same public frame as one of the biggest professional moments of his stage career.

Plaza’s black-and-white Chanel dress gave the photos a clean, minimal look. The floor-length column silhouette kept the focus on the baby bump without adding a large train, bright color, or heavy red-carpet styling.
Entertainment Weekly noted that Plaza and Abbott smiled together on the carpet, marking their first public red-carpet appearance together since the pregnancy news became public.
The two coordinated without matching exactly. Abbott’s black velvet jacket and tie kept the look formal, while Plaza’s white pinstripes made the dress stand out in the Tony Awards photo line.
The Pregnancy News Broke in April
People confirmed in April that Plaza is expecting her first child with Abbott.
A representative for Plaza confirmed the pregnancy to People, and a source told the outlet that the baby is due in the fall.
Plaza later addressed the news on the SmartLess podcast with Jason Bateman, Sean Hayes, and Will Arnett. She joked that there was “a baby inside” her and said she had always wanted to experience motherhood.
The podcast comments gave fans the first direct confirmation from Plaza after the pregnancy news became public.
Abbott Reacted to the Baby News on Today
Abbott spoke publicly about the pregnancy in May while promoting Death of a Salesman with Nathan Lane on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle.
When Jenna Bush Hager asked whether she could congratulate him, Abbott first joked that she meant his Tony nomination.
After the baby news came up directly, he called it “very exciting.”
The interview gave Abbott his own small public pregnancy moment before he and Plaza appeared together at the Tonys.
They Have Worked Together Before
Plaza and Abbott’s creative history goes back several years.
The actors starred together in the 2020 psychological drama Black Bear. They later appeared together in the two-person Off-Broadway revival of Danny and the Deep Blue Sea.
Page Six reported that the two were friends before becoming romantically involved.
The Tony Awards appearance added a new public chapter for the pair: a first child on the way, a Broadway nomination, and their first major red-carpet appearance together since the pregnancy was confirmed.
