Aubrey Plaza and Christopher Abbott have reportedly welcomed their first child together, a baby girl, after largely keeping their relationship out of the spotlight.

TMZ reported that sources with direct knowledge said Plaza gave birth during the final week of July. Neither Plaza nor Abbott has publicly announced their daughter’s name or exact birth date.

The 42-year-old actress was photographed carrying the newborn in New York City on August 9 after supporting Abbott at the final Broadway performance of Death of a Salesman.

The reported arrival came several months after Plaza’s representative confirmed in April that she and Abbott were expecting their first child. At the time, a source told People that the baby was expected in the fall.

Plaza was photographed outside in New York with the baby bundled in a blanket and wearing a beanie. TMZ reported that the sighting came after Plaza attended Abbott’s final performance in the Broadway revival of Arthur Miller’s Death of a Salesman.

Abbott played Biff Loman opposite Nathan Lane and Laurie Metcalf in the production, which closed at the Winter Garden Theatre on August 9. TMZ’s sources said Plaza had welcomed a girl during the final week of July.

The Arrival Came Earlier Than the Previously Reported Due Window

When People first reported Plaza’s pregnancy in April, a representative confirmed she was expecting her first child with Abbott. An unnamed source told the outlet at the time that the baby was due in the fall and described the pregnancy as a “beautiful surprise.”

Plaza subsequently discussed the pregnancy during an April appearance on the SmartLess podcast. She said she was excited about becoming a mother and joked about the experience while telling hosts Will Arnett, Jason Bateman and Sean Hayes that there was “a baby inside of me.”

Plaza and Abbott Worked Together Years Before Their Romance

Plaza and Abbott have a professional history dating back years before reports of a romantic relationship emerged. They starred together in the psychological drama Black Bear, which premiered at the Sundance Film Festival in 2020.

The actors reunited in 2023 for an Off-Broadway revival of John Patrick Shanley’s Danny and the Deep Blue Sea, playing the two central characters in the intimate production.

Entertainment Weekly reported that rumors of a romance between Plaza and Abbott did not surface until July 2025. They made increasingly public appearances together after the pregnancy news emerged, including the April opening night of Death of a Salesman and the Tony Awards in June.

Abbott Said Becoming a Father Was ‘Very Exciting’

Abbott publicly addressed the pregnancy in May while appearing on Today with Jenna & Sheinelle alongside his Death of a Salesman costar Nathan Lane.

When Jenna Bush Hager asked whether she could congratulate him, Abbott initially joked that he thought she meant his Tony Award nomination. He then acknowledged the baby news and said he had plenty to celebrate. “That’s very nice. Thank you very much, it’s very exciting,” Abbott said.
