Barbara Palvin and Dylan Sprouse are officially parents after quietly welcoming their first child three weeks before sharing the news publicly. The couple announced on September 28 that their baby girl arrived on Labor Day, September 7, joking in a joint Instagram post, “We took Labor Day literally this year,” according to PEOPLE.
The announcement came with a family photograph showing Palvin and Sprouse with their backs to the camera as they held their newborn between them. All three wore Los Angeles Dodgers jerseys, turning the first public glimpse of their daughter into a coordinated family moment while still keeping her face private.
E! News reported that the family was watching the Dodgers’ September 27 game against the San Francisco Giants on television when the picture was taken, one day before Palvin and Sprouse shared it with fans.
The couple has not publicly revealed their daughter’s name. They had already shared one detail about her before the birth, however: after learning they were expecting a girl, Palvin and Sprouse affectionately called her “principessa,” the Italian word for princess.

The baby’s arrival comes a little more than four months after Palvin and Sprouse turned the Cannes Film Festival into their pregnancy reveal giving photographers the first clear look at their growing family.
They followed the Cannes appearance with their own pregnancy announcement on Instagram. Vogue reported that the carousel included photographs of Palvin’s bump and a sonogram in which the baby appeared to be making a “rock on” gesture, which the couple recreated in another image.
Sprouse Was Already Excited to Become a ‘Girl Dad’
By July, Palvin and Sprouse were ready to reveal that their first child would be a daughter. During an episode of Sprouse’s Wildmen podcast, he explained that they had been calling the baby “principessa” while continuing to go back and forth over what her actual name would be, PEOPLE reported.
Sprouse said he was excited to become a “girl dad” despite growing up in a family dominated by boys, and he later described his daughter as the first Sprouse girl born in generations. Palvin joked that fatherhood might mellow him out, while Sprouse pointed to one part of raising a daughter he was already prepared for, he said he “unironically” loves a tea party.
