RAYE finally has an answer for the dating speculation that followed her roller-coaster outing with Michael B. Jordan, and she says there is no romance behind it. Asked about Jordan on the red carpet at the 2026 MTV Video Music Awards, the singer told Extra, “No, we’re just friends who like roller coasters.”
She did confirm that the two have a professional connection, although she stopped well short of explaining exactly what they are making. When Extra asked about their project, RAYE said she was “technically not allowed to talk about it” because she could get in trouble for revealing more.
She and Jordan were spotted at Six Flags Magic Mountain in August. E! News documented the August 7 outing from fan photos and video, while PEOPLE later published conflicting anonymous accounts about whether the pair had been spending time together romantically or were simply friends.
She also told Entertainment Tonight at the VMAs that she and Jordan are friends who have been working together, while separately explaining that she is not trying to force a relationship into her life and would rather let love happen naturally.
The Six Flags Outing Started a Month of Conflicting Dating Reports
RAYE and Jordan were spotted together at Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California, on August 7. E! News reported that fan-shot video showed them loading onto a roller coaster together, while another image circulating on X showed them sitting beside each other on a separate ride.
The sighting quickly turned into dating speculation, but the reporting around it was inconsistent from the beginning. PEOPLE reported one anonymous source claiming the two had gone to dinner together and liked each other, while another source in the same report said they were only friends and had visited the park as part of a group.
The professional connection is not entirely new information. On August 11, TMZ reported, citing sources familiar with the situation, that RAYE was working on the soundtrack for a movie project involving Jordan and that their work together helped explain why they had been spending time together.

At the VMAs, she told Entertainment Tonight that she is excited about that part of her future but does not want to force it. PEOPLE reported that RAYE said she believes love should arrive naturally and that, for now, she is concentrating on her work and getting sleep whenever her schedule allows.
Jordan has previously described a similar reluctance to build a relationship around an artificial timetable. In a 2025 GQ interview, he said he was heavily focused on work and wanted a future partner to fit naturally into the life he was building, making clear at the time that timing mattered as much as meeting the right person.
