Benson Boone has had plenty of unexpected encounters with fans, but one concertgoer caught him in about the worst possible position.
The 24-year-old “Beautiful Things” singer revealed during the October 1 episode of Life Uncut that a fan once walked into a concert restroom while Boone was standing at a urinal with his pants and underwear completely down around his ankles.
The encounter happened roughly two and a half years ago, when Boone was still early in his touring career. He thought the restroom available to him near the backstage area was private, only to discover in especially memorable fashion that it was also accessible to members of the audience.
“It was so awkward. I was horrified,” Boone said, according to PEOPLE. The concertgoer recognized him immediately, leaving Boone to make small talk before he could finally get dressed again.
Boone Thought the Restroom Was Only for Him and His Friends

The predicament started with an old joke Boone had revived with two friends. He explained that when they were younger, they sometimes made each other laugh by pulling their pants completely down at a urinal instead of simply unzipping them.
Boone decided to bring the joke back at the concert venue because he believed the bathroom was private. “Backstage I didn’t have a bathroom for some reason,” he explained on Life Uncut, according to Just Jared. The facility he had been given was actually shared with the audience, something Boone said he did not realize beforehand.
Once his pants were at his ankles and he was using the urinal, Boone heard somebody enter. He initially assumed one of his friends had followed him inside, so he did not immediately turn around.
Then came the moment that told him something had gone wrong. “I heard the gasp,” Boone recalled. When he looked over, the person staring back at him was not one of his friends but a fan attending the concert.
The Fan Recognized Boone While He Was Still Stuck at the Urinal
Entertainment Weekly reported that the fan identified Boone by name while the singer was still unable to make an immediate exit from the situation.
Boone responded by confirming his identity and then attempting ordinary conversation, asking whether the man was coming to the show. The fan pointed out that he was in an audience bathroom, which finally explained to Boone how a stranger had managed to wander into what he thought was his private space.
Despite Boone’s embarrassment, he said the concertgoer handled the encounter well. He described him as a “great guy” who remained calm instead of making the already uncomfortable moment worse.
Boone eventually pulled his clothes back up and shook the man’s hand. He then supplied the story’s final detail himself. The handshake happened before Boone had washed his hands.
‘Life Uncut’ Says Boone Had Never Shared the Story Publicly
The bathroom confession came during the podcast’s “Accidentally Unfiltered” segment. The official Life Uncut episode listing describes it as a story Boone had “never told publicly”.
Boone also discussed not owning a smartphone until he was 17, once planning to become an architect and writing “Ghost Town” as his first song. The hosts also asked whether he would ever date a fan.
