Brooklyn Beckham has brought one of his most talked-about cooking videos back into circulation, and viewers are once again fixated on the same unusual ingredient.

The 27-year-old re-shared a clip this week showing him preparing tomato pasta aboard a yacht, according to The Sun. Instead of filling his saucepan in the yacht’s kitchen, Beckham lowers it over the side of the boat and scoops up seawater to cook the spaghetti.

Several commenters questioned the decision, particularly because he collected the water from behind the yacht. One asked, “Isn’t the ocean water dirty?” while another joked, “Is boat exhaust the secret ingredient?”

Beckham originally posted video in July 2025, making the latest attention a revival of an older viral cooking moment rather than a recipe filmed during his current summer travels.

The Pasta Water Came Straight From the Sea

“Today I am going to make some tomato pasta,” Beckham says at the beginning of the clip. He then carries a saucepan to the edge of the yacht. “Of course we get some pasta water,” he says before filling the pan directly from the sea.

Back in the kitchen, Beckham boils the spaghetti and begins preparing his sauce, adding chopped tomatoes to an oiled pan along with Cloud23, the hot sauce brand he launched in 2024. The seawater immediately became the part of the recipe viewers wanted to discuss when the video first appeared.

The Standard documented comments questioning why he had chosen ocean water, while The Independent noted that the video also served as a showcase for his Cloud23 sauce.

The Video First Caused a Stir in July 2025

Beckham originally shared the yacht recipe last summer, when it attracted enough attention for several outlets to examine whether cooking pasta in seawater was as unusual as viewers assumed. The practice itself is not unheard of.

The Guardian noted at the time that sailors and coastal cooks have used seawater in food preparation, although its high salt concentration means it may be mixed with freshwater rather than used on its own.

What concerned many viewers was the location. Beckham appeared to collect the water directly beside a working yacht, prompting speculation in the comments about possible contamination from boats.

Cloud23 Was Part of the Recipe From the Beginning

The clip also gave Beckham another opportunity to incorporate his own food business into his cooking. He launched Cloud23 in 2024 with Sweet Jalapeño and Hot Habanero varieties after becoming increasingly serious about cooking during the pandemic.

Beckham told Bon Appétit that he wanted to build beyond hot sauce and eventually develop a broader range of condiments. “I’ve always been obsessed with food,” he told the publication, explaining that cooking became an increasingly important part of his life when he was spending more time at home.

Gordon Ramsay Praised David Beckham’s Cooking

Brooklyn is not the only Beckham who spends significant time in the kitchen. Gordon Ramsay described David Beckham as a “very talented chef,” recalling how his longtime friend developed his skills while playing football in Italy.

Ramsay told The Athletic that David would finish training and send him photographs and videos of risottos he was preparing while attending culinary school in Milan. “You’ve got too good,” Ramsay recalled telling him.

The story is consistent with what Victoria Beckham said more than a decade earlier. In 2013, she told T magazine that “David does the cooking” at home and revealed that he had decided to attend culinary school while playing in Italy. CBS News reported her comments at the time, including her assessment that her husband was “really good” in the kitchen.

Brooklyn Says He Tries to Cook for Nicola Every Night

Despite years of scrutiny surrounding his recipes, cooking has remained one of Brooklyn’s most consistent professional and personal interests. In June 2025, he told PEOPLE that he tries to prepare dinner for wife Nicola Peltz nearly every night. “I love cooking my wife stuff, and I try and cook every night,” he said.

Beckham described cooking as an activity he can lose himself in, often working in the kitchen with music playing and his dogs nearby. He said spaghetti bolognese was among the meals he had recently prepared and revealed that Peltz frequently sends him food trends she discovers on TikTok for them to try together.
