Buckcherry has confirmed that every member of the band and its touring crew is safe after their tour bus became involved in a fatal multi-vehicle crash on a South Carolina interstate.

The incident happened at approximately 2 a.m. on August 21 on Interstate 26 in Spartanburg County. In a social media statement quoted by PEOPLE, the band said everyone traveling with them was “safe and unharmed.”

Buckcherry also confirmed that someone died in a collision that occurred ahead of the bus. The group offered its condolences to the victim’s family and loved ones while thanking fans who had reached out after reports of the crash began circulating.

Local reports describe an earlier crash involving the victim’s vehicle, followed by the driver getting out and being struck by a Toyota sedan while on the interstate.

Buckcherry Says the Band and Touring Crew Are Safe

Buckcherry addressed the incident directly after the overnight crash, reassuring fans that none of the musicians or touring personnel had been injured. The band said its bus had been involved in the multi-vehicle accident but described the fatal collision as having occurred ahead of it.

The band’s current lineup includes vocalist Josh Todd, guitarists Stevie D. and Billy Rowe, bassist Kelly LeMieux and drummer Francis Ruiz. All five, along with the touring crew, were reported unharmed.

Troopers Say a Driver Was Struck After Leaving His Vehicle

Local reporting provides more detail about the fatal portion of the incident. FOX Carolina reported that the crash occurred on I-26 East near mile marker 31 in Spartanburg County, where the collision forced authorities to close the eastbound lanes for several hours.

According to accounts citing the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the person who died had been the driver involved in an earlier crash. After getting out of the vehicle and entering or standing in the roadway, the driver was struck by an eastbound Toyota sedan and pronounced dead at the scene. The Spartanburg County Coroner’s Office responded to the crash.

Buckcherry Said the Tour Would Continue After the Crash

Despite the overnight accident, Buckcherry said its August 22 performance at the Culture Room in Fort Lauderdale was expected to “proceed as planned.” The venue continued to list the band alongside Tyler Bryant & The Shakedown for the Saturday night show.

The road schedule then moved farther south. Buckcherry is listed to perform at the Key West Theater on August 23, with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the concert scheduled for 8 p.m.

The Band Is Touring Behind Roar Like Thunder

The crash happened while Buckcherry was on the road supporting Roar Like Thunder, its 11th studio album. The band’s official announcement says the 10-track record was released on June 13, 2025.

Like its predecessors Vol. 10 and Hellbound, the album was recorded at Sienna Studios in Nashville and produced by Marti Frederiksen. All 10 songs were written by Todd, Stevie D. and Frederiksen.
