Bunnie Xo is joking through one of the strangest parts of her split from Jelly Roll: the sudden flood of messages from men watching the divorce play out in public.
The Dumb Blonde podcast host read several direct messages during a new clip shared Thursday, June 25, including one from a man who said he was about to get out of prison after a 10-year sentence. People reported that the exchange led Bunnie to joke that she had just finished her own “10-year bid.”
The comment came weeks after Jelly Roll filed for divorce in Williamson County, Tennessee, after nearly a decade of marriage. Court records viewed by People listed May 9 as the couple’s separation date and irreconcilable differences as the grounds for divorce.
Bunnie immediately treated the prison line as a joke, not a full statement on the marriage. The clip works because of the DM she was reading, the studio reaction, and the awkward timing of hearing from men while her divorce remains in the headlines.
The Joke Started With a DM From a Man in Prison

In the clip, Bunnie told her co-hosts that she had responded to only two messages since the separation became public, but she read several other attempts out loud. One man wrote that he was about to get out of prison after a 10-year sentence and wanted a chance to take her out.
Bunnie said she did not object to the man being in prison, but she questioned the wording of his message. When co-host Hailee Clark asked what he had been convicted for, the studio conversation turned into a joke about the “10-year bid” phrasing.
After co-host Meme Shahan joked that the man might need company after 10 years, Bunnie laughed and said, “I just got out of a 10-year bid too,” before adding that she was kidding. Us Weekly also noted that Bunnie expected the comment to get back to Jelly Roll.
She Has Also Asked Fans Not to Pick Sides

The clip landed during a week when Bunnie has been using her podcast to address the divorce more directly. In a separate Dumb Blonde episode, Entertainment Weekly reported that she joked about telling women to message Jelly Roll, then said many fans were sending support to her instead.
Bunnie also told listeners she did not want people picking sides. She referred to Jelly Roll as “J,” called him her best friend, and said she would continue supporting him behind the scenes despite the divorce.
Jelly Roll Filed for Divorce in May
Jelly Roll, whose real name is Jason DeFord, filed for divorce on May 18. People reported that the filing came after nearly 10 years of marriage and listed May 9 as the date of separation.
The couple met in Las Vegas in 2015 and married in August 2016. They renewed their vows in 2023 at the same Las Vegas chapel where they first married, a detail that has made the divorce especially visible to fans who followed their relationship through Jelly Roll’s rise in country music.
Bunnie has also spoken about the argument that preceded the divorce filing. In a June podcast episode covered by Entertainment Weekly, she said the details of the argument did not need to be public, but she acknowledged telling Jelly Roll to file the divorce papers during that moment.
Their Public Marriage Keeps Small Comments in the Spotlight
Bunnie and Jelly Roll made their relationship part of their public lives for years. She appeared with him at major events, supported his career, and became a stepmother to his children, Bailee and Noah, from previous relationships.
