Cara Delevingne is looking back at one of her most photographed runway chapters with a much different lens.
The model, actress, and musician opened up on the June 3 episode of Call Her Daddy, where she discussed sobriety, sexuality, identity, and the public image that followed her during her biggest modeling years. Just Jared reported that Delevingne spoke about the substances she used before getting sober, her memories of the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show, and a backstage story involving Candice Swanepoel.
The interview put a harder frame around a period that once looked playful from the outside. Delevingne walked in the Victoria’s Secret Fashion Show in 2012 and 2013, but she now says that time overlapped with addiction, depression, and anxiety around her sexuality.

She Said Victoria’s Secret Was Not a “Nice Environment” for Her
Page Six reported that Delevingne called the Victoria’s Secret experience fun in some ways, but emotionally difficult.
She said the show felt like “dress-up” and joked that she was not a Victoria’s Secret Angel, but “a devil.”
The lighter line came with a darker explanation. Delevingne said the environment was not easy for her at the time because she was dealing with addiction and hiding parts of herself.
According to Page Six, Delevingne said she used alcohol and Xanax before shows during that period. She described those years as some of her darkest, which changes the way the glossy runway images read now.
The Candice Swanepoel Story Was About Panic
One of the stranger stories from the interview involved fellow model Candice Swanepoel.
Page Six reported that Delevingne recalled passing out after Swanepoel undressed near her backstage.
Delevingne made clear the moment was not about desire. She described it as panic while she was still closeted and surrounded by models in a highly exposed environment.
That distinction keeps the anecdote from turning into a cheap backstage story. Delevingne was describing anxiety around sexuality, body image, and performance during a period when she did not feel fully able to be herself.
The Episode Also Focused on Sobriety
The Call Her Daddy episode is titled “Cara Delevingne: Sobriety, Sexuality & Self-Love.” Apple Podcasts describes it as a conversation about mental health, sobriety, identity, and why Delevingne’s music era feels like a fresh start.
The episode page also includes a content warning for discussion of suicidal ideation.
Delevingne has spoken publicly in recent years about getting sober after a difficult stretch in 2022. In the new interview, she again connected recovery to a larger process of understanding herself rather than simply cleaning up her public image.
The Sun reported that she discussed using drugs as a teenager, the height of her addiction, and the point when she committed more seriously to sobriety after Burning Man in 2022.
Her New Music Is Part of the Same Reset
Delevingne is also using the interview to introduce a new creative chapter.
Vogue recently reported that Delevingne has released new music, including “I Forgot” and “Out of My Head,” ahead of an upcoming album with Warner Records.
Vogue reported that the album draws from writings she has made over the past few years and explores mental health, self-discovery, love, and identity.
That gives the Call Her Daddy interview a reason beyond revisiting old modeling stories. Delevingne is explaining the gap between the version of herself people saw on runways and the person now making music from a more honest place.
She Also Talked About Sexuality and Hollywood Pressure
Delevingne also discussed her sexuality during the interview.
Them reported that she spoke about coming to understand herself as a lesbian after previously identifying publicly as pansexual.
The outlet also reported that Delevingne discussed a past encounter with Harvey Weinstein, who allegedly warned her against coming out as gay. Delevingne has spoken about that alleged warning before, including in earlier interviews about the pressure she felt in Hollywood.
That context makes her Victoria’s Secret comments more specific. She was working inside fashion and entertainment spaces that sold a narrow version of female beauty while she was privately dealing with addiction, panic, and questions about how much of herself she could show.
Delevingne is not asking people to forget the glamorous images from that era. She is explaining what was happening behind them.
