Charlie Sheen says one night out with Kiefer Sutherland eventually left him doing something considerably less entertaining, covering a bill of roughly $30,000.
The story returned to entertainment headlines after The Express reported on Sheen’s account on Sept. 7. Sheen originally told the story months earlier on Just Foolin’ About with Michael Biehn.
According to Sheen, he and his former co-star visited a hostess lounge where charges accumulated while women spent time at their table. Sheen said he settled his own tab but ultimately paid approximately $30,000 that he says remained on Sutherland’s account.
Sheen says he later told Sutherland that he had handled the bill and expected to be reimbursed, but that the money never arrived.
Sheen Says Sutherland ‘Never Squared Up’
Apple Podcasts lists Charlie Sheen (Part 2) with a running time of approximately one hour and 57 minutes. The conversation appeared in the Feb. 17 episode of Just Foolin’ About with Michael Biehn. Sheen was discussing stories from his career when Sutherland’s name came up.
Sheen said Sutherland apparently had not realized how rapidly charges at the hostess lounge could accumulate, explaining that even having a woman remain at the table meant “the meter’s running.”
According to Sheen, he regularly cleared his own charges while Sutherland did not settle the amount Sheen attributed to him. Sheen said the outstanding figure reached roughly $30,000 and that resolving it directly with the venue would have required more trouble than he wanted, so he paid it himself.
He later said he casually informed Sutherland that he had “taken care” of the situation and waited for reimbursement. Sheen joked about expecting a “bag of dough” to appear before summing up what he says happened next, “He never squared up.”
Sheen and Sutherland Made Two Movies Together
The story involves two actors with a substantial professional history rather than casual Hollywood acquaintances. Sheen and Sutherland were both part of the ensemble of the 1988 Western Young Guns, with Sutherland playing Doc Scurlock and Sheen playing Dick Brewer.
Five years later, they reunited for Disney’s The Three Musketeers. Sutherland played Athos, while Sheen took the role of Aramis opposite Oliver Platt as Porthos and Chris O’Donnell as D’Artagnan.
