Charlotte Flair says her father, Ric Flair, is going to be okay after a fall sent the wrestling legend to a hospital in Florida.

The WWE star addressed fans in a post on X late Friday, October 23, sharing a lighthearted account of what her father had told his doctor.

Earlier that day, Ric had discussed an ongoing blood clot in his leg.

Photographs published by TMZ Sports showed emergency medical personnel attending to the 77-year-old at the scene.

Charlotte’s Message Recalled an Old Wrestling Rival

According to Charlotte, Ric invoked The Ultimate Warrior while explaining the accident to his doctor, referring to his former opponent dropping him on his head.

The two wrestlers faced each other during Ric’s first WWE run in the early 1990s. Warrior, who died in 2014, was one of the company’s best-known performers during that period.

In a May 2022 video on his YouTube channel, Ric spoke about vertigo that he associated with working with Warrior. The cause of Friday’s fall has not been publicly established.

Charlotte’s post did not announce a hospital discharge or provide details of the treatment her father received.

Ric Fell After Leaving a Tampa Restaurant

TMZ reported that Ric had been at Wagamama in Tampa on Friday morning. Citing sources with direct knowledge, the outlet said he got up from the bar and walked across the street, leaving his phone and drink behind.

He then fell and struck his face. The report described cuts to his head and the area around his eye, along with substantial bleeding near the eye. Emergency responders subsequently took him to a hospital by ambulance.

Doctors Limited His Travel to Three or Four Hours

In his own statement, Ric said doctors had restricted him to journeys lasting three or four hours. The trip to Washington exceeded that limit, leaving him unable to attend Washington State Horror Con.

Although Ric referred to Seattle in his message, Washington State Horror Con is taking place October 23 through 25 at the Washington State Fair and Events Center in Puyallup.

Ric apologized to his agent, Steve Solomon, the organizers and the fans who had expected to meet him. He said he needed to put his health and recovery first, while thanking people for their patience and continued support.

He also said he was scheduled for a procedure to strip the affected vein. According to Ric, his doctors expected that treatment to allow him to be cleared for longer trips afterward.

A Leg Clot Had Already Kept Him From an August Award Ceremony

The travel problem had previously prevented Ric from attending the Cauliflower Alley Club’s August 26 banquet in Las Vegas. Wrestling Observer reported that he instead appeared by video and explained why he could not make the journey.

Jerry Lawler and Jimmy Hart accepted the Iron Mike Mazurki Award on his behalf. In his recorded message, Ric said the clot prevented him from taking the five- or six-hour trip, and he thanked those who had gathered to honor him.

At the time of that August appearance, Ric said he felt well despite the travel restriction. His message also expressed appreciation for the organization and the work it does for people in the wrestling industry.

The Cauliflower Alley Club, which was marking its 60th reunion, recognized his lasting influence across organizations including the NWA, WCW and WWE. Its award honors a lifetime of contribution to professional wrestling.

Ric also said he had made a personal donation to the club, which provides financial assistance to wrestlers and former wrestlers experiencing hardship.
