TMZ reported that Drake wrote he had “endless and eternal gratitude” for Keith’s spirit and contributions to music.

Drake and Keith’s creative connection helped launch the producer into the national spotlight. Keith first gained major attention after producing BlocBoy JB and Drake’s 2018 hit “Look Alive.”

Keith later worked on more Drake records, including “Nonstop” and “Rich Flex,” the Drake and 21 Savage track that earned Keith his second Grammy nomination for Best Rap Song.

Keith Helped Shape a Decade of Rap Hits

Keith’s sound moved far beyond one Drake collaboration. People reported that his credits included Travis Scott’s “Sicko Mode,” Eminem’s “Not Alike,” Beyoncé’s “Before I Let Go,” Lil Baby, Future, Lil Nas X, Jennifer Lopez, Sexyy Red and 21 Savage.

Pitchfork noted that Keith’s producer tag and Memphis-rooted style became tied to records that crossed from rap playlists into mainstream pop culture.

The Guardian reported that Keith received two Grammy nominations: one in 2019 for “Sicko Mode” and another in 2024 for “Rich Flex.”

Metro Nashville Police said Keith was found dead in his Nashville apartment while officers were conducting a welfare check.

WSMV reported that police identified the apartment as being on Martin Street in Nashville.

TMZ later reported that a friend requested the welfare check after becoming worried when Keith could not be reached. The outlet also reported that building staff helped officers enter the apartment before he was found.

His Family Called Him a Cultural Force

Keith’s family confirmed his death with “profound sadness,” People reported.

The family remembered him as a “visionary producer, songwriter, entrepreneur, philanthropist, and cultural force” whose work helped shape the sound of a generation.

Billboard reported that the family also described Keith as a proud Middle Tennessee State University graduate and honorary professor who remained committed to creating opportunities for young writers, producers and artists.
