A public message Dylan Sprouse directed at Jared Leto in 2018 has resurfaced following the release of a BBC documentary containing new sexual-misconduct allegations against the actor and Thirty Seconds to Mars frontman.
Sprouse’s post alleged that Leto had contacted numerous young female models through social media. He did not explain what prompted the accusation, identify any of the women or provide evidence of the alleged messages.
Leto did not publicly answer Sprouse at the time. He has categorically denied the separate allegations presented in Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret.
Sprouse Questioned Leto About Messaging Young Models

Sprouse published the message on Twitter, now known as X, on May 15, 2018. “Yo @JaredLeto now that you’ve slid into the dm’s of every female model aged 18-25, what would you say your success rate is?” he wrote.
The former Disney Channel actor was 25 when he made the accusation. Leto did not reply publicly. People reported in 2018 that his representative did not respond to a request for comment.
James Gunn Added a More Serious Insinuation
Filmmaker James Gunn responded to Sprouse with a comment that appeared to question whether the age range in the original post began at 18. “He starts at 18 on the Internet?” Gunn wrote in a reply that was later deleted.
Representatives for Sprouse, Gunn and Leto did not immediately respond when Entertainment Weekly requested comment about the resurfaced exchange.
No public evidence connects Gunn’s old response to his later creative decisions involving Leto’s Joker character. Gunn did not include the Joker in his 2021 film The Suicide Squad, but he has not said the 2018 exchange influenced that decision.
The BBC Documentary Renewed Attention on the Posts
The old messages began circulating again after the July 29 release of Jared Leto: Hollywood’s Dark Secret. The BBC documentary presents accounts from 10 women describing alleged misconduct involving Leto between 2002 and 2016. Nine reportedly discussed their allegations publicly for the first time.
Four women alleged conduct the BBC described as potentially criminal, including sexual assault, threatened sexual assault, sexualized grooming and an alleged sexual relationship involving a 17-year-old in California, where the age of consent is 18.
The documentary also includes accounts from former workers connected to Leto’s band who alleged that staff members became uncomfortable with his reported interactions with teenage girls. The BBC said it reviewed messages, photographs and other material supporting portions of the women’s timelines. It also spoke with relatives or friends whom some women said they had told about the alleged incidents at the time.
Leto Categorically Denied the New Allegations
Leto declined to provide a response directly to the documentary team before the film was released, according to its producers. He later issued a statement denying all sexual-assault allegations featured in the investigation.
“I have never sexually assaulted anyone in my entire life,” Leto said in a statement obtained by Entertainment Weekly. “These claims are absolutely and categorically false.”
The documentary followed a June 2025 Air Mail investigation in which nine women accused Leto of sexual impropriety. His representatives expressly denied those allegations and described them as demonstrably false.
