Ella Bright and Belmont Cameli have spent weeks watching fans build theories about a falling-out between them. According to Bright, they were sometimes sitting beside each other while reading those theories.
The Off Campus costars addressed the speculation at the MTV Video Music Awards in Los Angeles on September 27. Bright said she and Cameli would scroll through posts about their supposed feud together while working on Season 2, according to Entertainment Weekly.
Cameli also dismissed the rumors, describing Bright as one of his closest friends and saying he was happy to put the idea of a rift between them to rest.
The speculation had followed the actors for weeks after fans noticed changes to their Instagram accounts. Bright and Cameli play Hannah Wells and Garrett Graham, whose relationship was at the center of the Prime Video show’s first season.
Bright Says the Rumors Became a Joke on Set

Bright said the disconnect between the online theories and what was actually happening between them became funny to both actors.
“Belmont and I spend every day on set together,” she told E! News. She recalled Cameli scrolling through his phone in the green room, finding a claim about them and showing it to her.
Bright said she would respond that the supposed incident had never happened. Rather than trying to answer each new theory, the two began laughing about what they were reading.
She extended that affection to the rest of the Off Campus ensemble, describing her castmates as family after working together through another season. Bright said returning for Season 2 felt more comfortable because the actors now know both their characters and one another better.
Archived Instagram Photos Helped Start the Speculation
Fans began questioning Bright and Cameli’s relationship after photos featuring one another were archived from their Instagram profiles. Cameli’s removal of several pictures with Bright drew particular attention and quickly became part of online theories that something had happened between the costars.
Bright offered a much simpler explanation at the VMAs, joking, “God forbid I wanted an aesthetic Instagram.”
The pair had already appeared together in a video from the Off Campus set earlier in September. In the clip, Bright and Cameli thanked viewers for their response to the first season and told fans they were back filming Season 2.
Cameli had also discussed their off-camera friendship before the feud speculation intensified. During a July appearance on the Therapuss with Jake Shane podcast, he described spending time away from filming with several castmates, including going for coffee with Bright.
Bright Has Previously Called Cameli ‘Literally My Brother’
The friendship has attracted attention since Off Campus premiered, in part because viewers began shipping Bright and Cameli after watching Hannah and Garrett’s romance.
Bright addressed that interest months before the feud rumors. During a July appearance on the In Your Dreams with Owen Thiele podcast, she said she understood why viewers wanted the actors together but did not see Cameli romantically.
“That’s literally my brother,” she said, adding that she also adores Cameli’s girlfriend, television writer Raina Morris.
Cameli has been linked to Morris since at least 2025. Bright said at the time that she was single, drawing a clear distinction between the chemistry viewers saw between Hannah and Garrett and her real-life friendship with her costar.
Season 2 Shifts the Main Romance to Dean and Allie
Bright and Cameli recently finished filming another season together, but Hannah and Garrett will no longer carry the show’s central romance.
Prime Video says Season 2 will spotlight Allie Hayes and Dean Di Laurentis, played by Mika Abdalla and Stephen Kalyn. Bright and Cameli return as Hannah and Garrett alongside Antonio Cipriano as John Logan and Jalen Thomas Brooks as John Tucker.
Bright said the new season gave the cast more opportunities to work together as an ensemble. After becoming accustomed to their characters during the first season, she found returning to the series less intimidating and admitted that she became emotional when filming ended.
“I’m really gonna miss them,” Bright told E! News of her castmates. “I was really sad at the wrap party.”
