Hilaria Baldwin appeared ready to do anything for her husband until Alec Baldwin revealed exactly what he had in mind.
The couple acted out a playful poolside exchange in a joint Instagram video shared Monday, August 3, with Hilaria mouthing the words, “I would do anything for you,” as she sat beside the actor in a pink bikini.
“Have another baby with me,” Alec replied with a grin. Hilaria’s expression immediately changed. She pushed the camera away, stood up and hurried out of the frame.
The moment was clearly staged as a joke, but it revived a question the parents of seven have repeatedly discussed: whether their already crowded household could eventually welcome another child.

The video was set to a version of Olivia Newton-John’s “Hopelessly Devoted to You” and posted jointly to Hilaria and Alec’s Instagram accounts. “When ‘I’d do anything for you’ meets reality with its terms and conditions,” Hilaria wrote in the caption. Her exaggerated exit amused followers, with one advising, “Run Hilaria run!!!!”
Another baby would be the couple’s eighth child together and Alec’s ninth overall. The actor also shares his adult daughter, Ireland Baldwin, with former wife Kim Basinger.
Alec and Hilaria married in 2012 and welcomed their first child together, Carmen, the following year. They are also parents to Rafael, Leonardo, Romeo, Eduardo, María Lucía and Ilaria.
Alec Has Asked for Another Child Before
Hilaria told People in February 2025 that Alec was “always asking” her for more children. Alec initially insisted that he did not seriously want another baby but acknowledged that his feelings tended to change whenever their youngest child reached approximately 2 years old.
“Every now and then, when the baby gets older and grows up to be about 2, I look at her and I go, ‘Time to have another,’” he said. Hilaria admitted that babies were difficult to resist but offered a practical reason for hesitating. “They’re so cute, but my body’s really tired,” she said. Their youngest daughter, Ilaria, is currently 3 and will turn 4 in September.
Hilaria Previously Said Seven Children Might Be Enough
Hilaria sounded similarly uncertain after Ilaria’s birth in September 2022. “I would have said before [that I’m] definitely done,” she told Us Weekly the following month. “Seven kids in, I feel like I am, but it’s Alec and me, so, time will tell!”
She also explained that the transition from three children to a much larger family had taught her to accept that their household would rarely be calm. “Once I passed three kids, I just embraced the chaos,” she said. “We have a wild and super fun house. Always something going on.”
Hilaria acknowledged that giving each child sufficient attention could be difficult, particularly while balancing homework, playtime and caring for a newborn.
Hilaria Calls Herself the ‘Alpha Parent’ at Home
Managing seven children has left Hilaria with little doubt about which parent makes many of the household decisions. During a July appearance on Jana Kramer’s Whine Down podcast, she described herself as the family’s “alpha parent.”
“There’s certain things that he knows he has to ask my permission for with them,” Hilaria said of Alec. She explained that she has final authority over some requests involving the children, while Alec takes greater control of the family’s social schedule.
Hilaria also admitted that she occasionally miscounts the children or calls out several names while trying to address one of them. “I go through all the other names,” she said. “I’m like, ‘You know, whoever you are, stop doing what you’re doing.’”
Their Reality Series Captured the Household Chaos
The couple offered viewers a broader look at their family life through the TLC reality series The Baldwins. The show followed Alec, Hilaria, their seven younger children and six animals while documenting the practical and emotional demands of their household.
Alec joked while promoting the series that without their enormous family, he and Hilaria could be relaxing on a yacht, drinking cappuccinos, reading books and dining with Steven Spielberg. “Instead we’re changing diapers!” Hilaria replied.
Alec nevertheless said he would not exchange their current life for that imagined version. “This is my reality,” he said. “I wouldn’t change anything.”
Alec Says His Children Gave Him a Reason to Keep Going
Despite regularly joking about the demands of fatherhood, Alec has spoken more seriously about what his children mean to him. After Ilaria’s birth in 2022, he wrote that his family had sustained him during an exceptionally difficult period. “My family has kept me alive,” Alec wrote. “They are my reason for living. And @hilariabaldwin, too.”
During a June interview with E! News, Alec said he wanted his children to grow up with hope and understand the importance of continuing to fight for a better future.
He first joked that he encouraged them to exercise because they would eventually need enough strength to push him in a wheelchair. “But I want my kids to grow up having hope,” Alec said, adding that children need to learn that they must “keep fighting.”
