Jalen Brunson and Michael Porter Jr. reached the same New York City club on the same night, but viral footage showed the two NBA players having noticeably different experiences at the entrance.

Porter and former Denver Nuggets teammate Peyton Watson waited while staff appeared to confirm their names on the guest list. Moments later, Brunson arrived with his wife, Ali Brunson, and walked directly inside as a security guard greeted him personally.

Porter was not refused entry or involved in a confrontation. He and Watson entered after completing the brief check, while other recognizable guests were also required to confirm their status at the door.

Brunson had recently led the New York Knicks to their first NBA championship in 53 years and won Finals MVP, cementing his status as one of the city’s most recognizable athletes.

Footage from outside The Twenty Two New York showed Porter standing near the entrance with Watson as security personnel appeared to search for their names. The interaction was brief and did not appear confrontational. Porter waited while staff completed the check, then entered the venue with Watson without further difficulty.

The New York Post reported that influencer Alix Earle also checked in shortly after Porter, indicating that the Nets forward was not the only prominent guest asked to follow the door procedure.

Porter completed his first season with the Brooklyn Nets after being traded by the Denver Nuggets in July 2025. Watson remains with Denver, where the two played together before Porter’s move to Brooklyn.

Brunson and His Wife Walked Straight Inside

Brunson’s vehicle arrived while Porter and Watson were still near the entrance. The Knicks captain stepped out with Ali and walked toward the door without pausing for the same visible guest-list check. “Mr. Brunson, how are you?” a security guard said as the couple entered. Cameras flashed and people gathered outside reacted to Brunson’s arrival.

TMZ Sports, which published the footage, presented the moment as a lighthearted illustration of the difference between the public profiles of the city’s Knicks and Nets stars.

Brunson’s immediate recognition followed a championship run in which he averaged 32.6 points during the NBA Finals. He scored a franchise Finals-record 45 points in the deciding game and received every vote from the media panel that selected the series MVP.

The arrivals occurred at a private party held at The Twenty Two following the 2026 FIFA World Cup final. Justin and Hailey Bieber hosted the event after the singer performed during the championship match’s halftime show.

The club attracted athletes, entertainers and social-media personalities. Page Six reported that Bieber later removed his shirt and joined the DJ booth as guests sang along to his music.

Team USA hockey players Jack and Quinn Hughes were also filmed outside the venue. The New York Post reported that security appeared to tell them the club had reached capacity as they attempted to enter.
