Jessica Biel and Justin Timberlake stepped out together for the Academy Museum Gala in Los Angeles on Oct. 17, making a rare joint appearance on the red carpet.

The actress, 44, and singer, 45, smiled for photographers and held hands in coordinating black outfits, as Entertainment Weekly reported.

Kim Kardashian, Sabrina Carpenter and Jacob Elordi were among the other guests. John Legend and Chrissy Teigen also attended the sixth annual event together.

The fundraiser supports the Academy Museum of Motion Pictures’ exhibitions, public screenings and educational programs. Tom Ford, Robert Rodriguez, Steven Spielberg and Kate Capshaw served as co-chairs.

Biel’s Tamara Ralph design combined black velvet with a feathered halter neckline, more feathers around her arms and a high slit. Her hair was swept back in a softly textured updo.

The back featured crystal-covered chains set with large pearls, according to InStyle. Three sections met near the middle of her back, while another chain ran across the lower back above the skirt. Rob Zangardi and Mariel Haenn styled the look, which included Chopard jewelry and black Christian Louboutin heels.

Their Anniversary Posts Included Family Photos and a Light-Therapy Mask

The gala fell two days before the anniversary of their Oct. 19, 2012, wedding in Puglia, Italy. Biel and Timberlake began dating in 2007, briefly separated in 2011 and reconciled before getting engaged.

They had already shared anniversary messages on Instagram Stories on Oct. 4. Timberlake posted a photograph of the pair walking hand in hand, set to James Taylor’s “How Sweet It Is (To Be Loved by You),” according to PEOPLE. Another image showed Biel wearing a black light-therapy mask, with Timberlake calling her “MY FAVORITE PERSON IN EVERY LIFETIME.” Over a photograph of her hugging him from behind, he wrote, “14 DOWN, FOREVER TO GO.”

Biel shared a snowy photograph of Timberlake with their sons, Silas, 11, and Phineas, 6, and praised him as a father. She also posted a picture of herself kissing him on the cheek. The couple generally avoid showing their children’s faces in public social media posts.

On Oct. 12, Biel shared footage of her training for Matchbox: The Movie, including appearances by Timberlake and their sons. She called their involvement “a healthy amount of gym distractions,” as PEOPLE reported. Trainer Ben Bruno praised Timberlake’s encouragement, while one clip showed Phineas interrupting an exercise by running into his mother’s arms.

At the May 2022 premiere of Candy, Biel told Entertainment Tonight that Timberlake regularly reminded her, “We might be married, but we have to keep dating.” She joked that any evening when they managed to leave the house together qualified.

Taylor Swift Closed a Gala Honoring Three Film Figures

Charlize Theron received the Icon Award from Sigourney Weaver, while Robert Rodriguez presented John Carpenter with the Luminary Award. Tom Ford gave Colman Domingo the Vantage Award, according to BroadwayWorld.

Conan O’Brien introduced Taylor Swift for the closing performance. Her set included “Blank Space,” “Love Story,” “The Fate of Ophelia” and her Toy Story 5 song “I Knew It, I Knew You,” as PEOPLE reported.

Theron had also joined the museum’s Teen Council for an August screening of Mad Max: Fury Road. The museum announced four nights of films hosted by Carpenter in connection with its exhibition The Horror Show. The evening raised more than $14 million.
