Joe Jonas is talking about fatherhood from a quieter place than the one that surrounded his split from Sophie Turner.

The Jonas Brothers singer gave a rare update on co-parenting with Turner during the June 2 episode of the iHeartRadio podcast Hey Jonas!, which he hosts with brothers Nick and Kevin Jonas. Us Weekly reported that Jonas described himself as a single dad while also saying he is grateful to share parenting with his ex-wife.

Jonas and Turner share daughters Willa, 5, and Delphine, 3. The former couple finalized their divorce in 2024 after a public split and custody dispute.

Jonas Said His Daughters Gave Him Purpose Again

“I’m a single dad and I coparent with my children’s mother,” Jonas said on the podcast, according to Us Weekly. “I think my children have given me purpose again in my life.”

Entertainment Weekly reported that Jonas said his daughters are now the reason he does what he does. He explained that he works hard when he is away from them so he can enjoy the shared time he gets with them.

Jonas also said a hug from his daughters can change even his saddest moments. He did not frame fatherhood as a divorce talking point. He described it as the part of his life that keeps him grounded.

He Said He Is Grateful for Turner as a Co-Parent

The most notable part of the update was how Jonas spoke about parenting with Turner.

Us Weekly reported that Jonas said he is grateful to have a co-parent who can help him balance even the bad days. He also credited the support system around him for helping him navigate fatherhood after the divorce.

Entertainment Weekly noted that Jonas has praised Turner’s parenting before, saying their children have “a fantastic mom” and that he gets to co-parent with someone who also prioritizes the girls.

The Divorce Started With a Public Custody Dispute

Jonas filed for divorce from Turner in September 2023 after four years of marriage.

The former couple released a joint statement at the time saying they had mutually decided to end their marriage and asked for privacy for themselves and their children. The split soon became more complicated when custody and travel issues involving their daughters entered public filings.

People previously reported that Turner filed a lawsuit in 2023 requesting the return of their children to England and alleging that Jonas had retained their passports. Jonas denied her claims through a representative.

The dispute later moved toward resolution. People reported that Jonas and Turner reached a temporary custody agreement in October 2023, and Turner dropped her claim in January 2024.

They Later Reached a More Peaceful Co-Parenting Place

People reported in September 2024 that Jonas and Turner had finalized their divorce and were focused on co-parenting their daughters.

A source told the outlet at the time that the former couple had “turned things around” after the earlier custody battle and were focused on what was best for Willa and Delphine.

Turner has also spoken carefully about parenting with Jonas. In a 2024 British Vogue interview cited by Entertainment Weekly, she said Jonas is a great father and that they were doing the best they could.

Jonas’ latest podcast comments fit that same direction. He did not revisit the legal fight in detail. He talked about working while his daughters are away, protecting the time he has with them, and appreciating that he does not have to handle the hard days alone.
