John Schneider is pushing back against his ex-wife’s claim that he owes her more than $2 million in unpaid spousal support.

The Dukes of Hazzard star filed new legal documents asking a judge to reject Elvira Schneider’s latest motion, according to TMZ.

Elvira previously claimed Schneider owed her $2,382,548 in unpaid support and interest. Schneider now says she has not provided evidence backing up that number and argues that her calculations contain mathematical errors.

The judge has not ruled on the latest motion.

Schneider Says the $2.3 Million Number Is Not Supported

TMZ reported that Schneider’s new filing asks the court to shut down Elvira’s motion in what the outlet described as a long-running legal fight between the former spouses.

According to TMZ, Schneider says Elvira failed to provide evidence supporting the amount she claims is due. He also says her calculations appear to include errors.

Earlier this year, Elvira asked the court to treat the alleged support debt as a seven-figure collection matter. Schneider’s latest filing challenges both the proof and the math behind that total.

Elvira Schneider Wants Access to Pension and Social Security Payments

Elvira’s March filing claimed Schneider owed $2,382,548 in unpaid spousal support, including nearly $1 million in interest, TMZ reported at the time.

She asked the court to award her a cut of Schneider’s Screen Actors Guild pension and his Social Security checks until the alleged debt is paid. Schneider is now asking the judge not to accept that request based on the numbers Elvira submitted.

The former couple married in 1993. Elvira filed for divorce in 2014, and the divorce was settled in 2019.

The Divorce Settlement Required Monthly Support

TMZ reported in 2019 that Schneider was ordered to pay Elvira $25,000 per month in spousal support. The same report said Elvira was also awarded sole ownership of a California property, another IRA and legal fees tied to the divorce.

The divorce had already included earlier fights over support payments. TMZ reported that Schneider had previously been sentenced to three days in Los Angeles County jail for failing to pay temporary spousal support.

The latest filing is narrower than the full divorce history. It centers on Elvira’s current seven-figure claim, her request to collect from retirement and Social Security streams, and Schneider’s argument that the court should reject her calculation.

Schneider’s personal life has also changed since the 2019 divorce settlement. People reported that he married Dee Dee Sorvino in Las Vegas on July 23, 2024.

Schneider had lost his wife Alicia Allain Schneider to breast cancer in 2023. Dee Dee Sorvino’s husband, actor Paul Sorvino, died in 2022.

The support dispute remains unresolved. Elvira says Schneider owes more than $2.3 million, while Schneider says her filing does not prove that amount and includes bad calculations.
